Has anyone had any experience with the "Download" mod. Mine has installed correctly and seems to operate as it should up to the point of actually downloading a file. At that point I get a blank screen and the message "Hacking Attempt". Any ideas out there?

Didn't know where else to put this so this looked like a good place to put this.

I have been using your Download System mod for about 4 months. Nice easy nod to install and use. Very nice job on this one it has all but 1 feature I use.

The problem I;'m having is I haven't made any new categoies since I first set it up. Now that I need to add a new one I can't for the life of me remember how to do it...lol

Could someone please refresh this old decrepid memory of mine for me please and tell me how to go about adding a new category to the system.

Also are there any plans to add any features to this mod. One I would like to see is the ability to add a thumbnail pic size of maybe 150 x 100
so people can see a pic of what they are downloading. Most of the files I host on my site are game content made by gamers that others who download want to see a pic of before obtaining the file. I think it would be a nice addition to a great mod and one I could really use.

You can disregard the where to add new category question. I found the answer. Must have been either brain freeze, blonde moment or just plain old age...lol

But the feature request I really would like to see some day.

I need a little help here. I have had this mod installed on another site and had it working great for some time.

I recently installed it on a second site but I'm having problems getting the files to download properly.

I had the host sdjust the file upload limit to 32MB. I then went in to the downloads manager settings and set the upload file size to 32MB in bytes so both server and software are at the same limit. We can upload fine. The file size shows in the manager's category area like it should but when we download the file it downloads a 0 bytes file.

I thought it might have been someting in the transfer itself so have tried it multiple times 8 to be exact and it's the same result every time. I have checked through ftp to be sure the file uploaded fine and it does and is the right file size so was wondering if you could tell me what the problem might be.

The site this mod is installed on is a downloads submission site where files are tested before release and I really need this mod working properly asap.

Hope you can help.

Is it for all downloads or only large downloads? Does it work with smaller files under 2mb? Any errors in the forum error log? What is the largest file that you can upload?

Anything under 2 MB iwas fine. Anything over 2 wouldn't upload so I had the host adjust the limit to 32MB on the server. I then converted 32MB to bytes and entered that size in the Download Manager settings so they matched. The file I worked with today is only 2.39MB and we keep getting the 0 byte file when downloaded. I'm not sure where the error is occurring.

OK I just tried with a file only 1.36 MB before completing this post and the same thing is happening. I get a 0 byte download.

I am running both sites with this mod on SMF 1.1.4 with only the Ad Management mod for google ads and a couple of themes unmodified.

I have no idea what all that says or refers to. I'm not versed in php at all. I can copy and paste code where I need to but that is the extent of my knowledge. Thanks for your little bit of help though. Hopefully my host can figure it out.

I have another question hopefully you can answer. Whyen a files is submitted through the downloads system what do I need to change in the settings for me to be able to see a zip file through ftp instead of a folder with a bunch of numbers besider it. See screen attached.

Also I have no visable php.ini file to edit. I have looked through everything even looked through the WHM and see nothing refering to a php.ini file all upload sizes can be adjusted for all accounts on my server by me through the WHM.

Just wondering if you have any idea where I can look now ? I'm still having the same problem but have no php.ini file on my server to adjust. Is there possibly something in anothe smf or download system php file that needs adjusting?

I am now getting a 0byte file no mater what size file I upload.

This is a nice mod but the lack of support and answers to questions from it's creator is very frustrating. I guess I have no other course of action but to uninstall and delete the mod. I need answers and support if I am going to continue with this mod and from the looks of things that is not going to be any time soon.

I don't have any answer other than its probably a server setting of some kind.

What about the pic I posted in post 10. I would prefer to see the actual Zip file rather then these folders. Is there something in your code I can adjust to have it display as in the pic ??

It appears the files are now uploading fine but are still downloading 0 byte. The site this is used for is a file submission site and all those uploading at the moment have full admin permissions granted. Submissions are under approval and when that option is checked it appears that we as admins can upload fine but if it's a file that needs approval first even we are unable to download a full size file they download 0 bytes. This would not be something server releated but mod related. An example would be - one of the admins uploaded a file 3162.27kb in file size. With admins having automatic approval it is automatically approved. We are strict with opur testing policy so another admin has to approve a file if you submit one yourself which was the case with this file. I tried to download the file but it downloaded 0 byte. Here is a pic showing the file uploaded with file size and showing it is approved.

I haven't tried unchecking the approval option as yet but will try and see what happens and post any results. This might be an adjustment that has to be made in the mod itself so auto approval for admins works as intended.
