Ok, I've seen this brought up here and there and elsewhere, seen snumerous people say 'I'd like that' but nothing developed.

I would like a hack that can be set up per board, so that when you post you have a drop down list of character's you can post as, this would be admin editable.

These names would aslo be able to be linked to their own avatars.

In the post itself it would end with 'Posted By' and include original poster.

In addition another code who's ide has been tossed around, switch user, so that people with multiple accounts can switch between them with out logging off and back on. Again something an admin could modify for each user.

These two combined would greatly enhace RP forums.  Users could choose which of their accounts to use on the fly and post under 'lesser' or NPC characters available per board.

Case example: Our forum is based on the book series the Whell of Time. There are several major characters, who need to be in many paces and cannot really be allowed to be controlled by an individual. With a hack like this they can be available on the drop down lists and posts can be made by them as needed to make storylines work.

Another use is when someone is absent for awhile, we can add their name to the available lists and people can post as the mising player in the interim, yet posts will show "Posted By:" at the end of each post.

thank you, I've put a post up there before here. I know its a busy time (well it always is...isn't it Smiley )
So still looking for someone to give it a shot.

If nothing else, a custom post template might do the trick, where at least it makes them type in a 'post as'
and puts in the actual poster at the end of the post. You guys know what is possible and what is not. Something classier then making people start off each post with 'I'm posting as...'

really could use someones help if you have the time.

I was lead to a beta mod (called Persona mod) that works for my purposes, thanks for your direction.
