While i am sure the writter fully deserves a reward for this addon, I suspect he will sell 100 licences at $50 instead of 1000 license at $5. I would prefere the word of mouth advertising of 1000 users than 100.

I wish him all the best with his venture though.

Only 12 months of updates ? Little bit rough.

I think the price is in line compared to some other  photo gallery software. The main thing with SMF Gallery Pro is how it is fully intergrated with the forum.

$5 would be way too cheap and would not be worth my time to support it.

I try to strike a balance with the price that I think is fair for the amount of work I put into it and will continue to add to gallery system.

To say "I try to strike a balance" is just another way of saying "I'm trying to be fair" and with that kind of an attitude, you can only succeed. Smiley

Here is an idea:

Why not have a SMFHacks Membership (One time fee of $25.00) and make all SMFHacks half price for members. Smiley

I dpn't see where the arguement here is over the price. You get what you pay for and sometimes you don't get what you pay for.

I have installed this on a growing forum with no problems other than those I created and the support so far, has been almost immediate and has solved the problem.

I anticipate that my return on this investment will be 200X what I invested in it and even without the year of upgrades and support, it would still be worht the money.

I have a heavily modded  forum. I have a bad habit of modding the mods and after having spent almost a year trying to get Coppermine to fully integrate into my forums without success, I am thrilled with this. So thrilled that as I type this, I find myself sitting on one hand to keep from playing with myself.

Trust me folks, used correctly, this is a mod that will more than return the investment if that is your desire.

Most of the SMF forums don`t earn any money from advertisement etc. Most of SMF forums admins have more than 1 forum installed, plus they have paid 50$ to be charter members in simplemachines.org, to pay an extra 50 from each forum is unfordable, they will turn in another gallery software that is free.
I believe with a price of 20-25 $ smfhacks would earn much more from his modification...

Another tricky thing, i will speak for myself, is that i use some mods of smfhacks but i haven`t donate yet, thats because i am thinking to buy a license for gallery pro or not and i can`t afford to pay 50 plus a donate for other mods.......

i hope my English is good enough to be understandable......

I run a stock photography forum. Perhaps you can tell me the "right" way to use this to make money!?

I've got an idea.
Have a 24 hour sale where you sell a licence for 5 bucks.
It will be interesting to see if you make as much money as you would in the same 24 hour period, without the sale. Call it a promotion sale.

I know I will never be paying 50 bucks for it, but would easily pay 5 for it. One in the hand is better than two in the bush Smiley

Dont get me wrong, I know the ammount of time and work you have put into this, and you fully deserve to be rewarded. My critisism is aimed at helping you to gain what you deserve. ( Though it would be easy to missinterpret my intent )
