It could be item specific I haven't seen that error happen before with out sandbox mode and did read sometimes it could be caused by different variables that are passed to paypal.

Yeah that error when entering the ipn file in the address bar will occur since no transaction information was passed.

Okay, so with the new storeipn.php file, I should be able to edit the custom fields and have them work now?

I thought the issue was the invalid ipn problem when placing an order and nothing appearing in the transaction logs.

That very well might be it, but why would I get it out of no where for no reason?

Could be a change in the hosting environment or PayPal broke something on their side.
