Which is better?

They look to have alot of the same features.


I am wanting to add one of them to my site but, it looks like I will need to start with a clean slate for a forum......the mods I have installed now seem to be interferring with installation.

I dont have a lot of experience with MkPortal, but when I used TinyPortal it took just under a month for someone to start exploiting the forum.  Once I uninstalled it there were no more problems.

I use Tiny Portal and I really like it but then it is the only one I have tried.  If there has been any exploits with my forum, I am unaware of it.  I do like a portal better than not having one.    If you would like to see it, follow this link.  Guest have it pretty easy looking over my site.

What is it and what happens??  Have you reported it to Bloc?

I have had several attempts to exploit my shoutbox and none have worked.  I feel very safe. 

If you havent reported it to Bloc or the TP team then you should.

I am new to running my own forum, but after years of being a mod on a couple of large sites, I figured how hard could it be to set my own family site up. Everything went fine setting up my SMF forum, but I really wanted something that was more like Bulletin.

After seeing a few sites that were using Tiny Portal, I felt it was the way to go, but so far I have not been able to get it into my Package Manager. I have tried using FTP and load it into Package Manager, but still no love. I have been able to add several other mods, but I just can't seem to get this right.

Would anyone mind giving a little help? I'm really sorry being such a newbie, but after reading what I have found, I just seem to be missing something. I wish I knew more about UNIX, but never learned it.

Tiny Portal have not any exploits. I used it for two years, nemo problemo I also used mkportal, but Tiny Portal is more integrated to smf forum, that is why I have choosen Tiny Portal

Im new to the whole smf set up also but had no problems with tiny portal i would remove all mods then try to upload the new tiny portal package make sure its the newest version available. It should just upload right threw the package manager. Youll know it loaded right if the theme gos white and it says please restart the forum just refresh you should be all good.

Just an update on my site/s.  I am now using EZPortal on my Haunted Asylum site and Tiny Portal on my Christian Treasures forum. 

I am using the newest issue of EZPortal but with Tiny Portal, I am only using beta 1.  Betas 2 & 3 were both full of bugs and beta 3 caused me to lose my site, the role playing forum.  It wasn't Tiny Portal alone that did it but my trying to fixed some bugs myself that cause the error.  So, after an unsuccessful attempt to upgrade the smf to 1.1.8, the site reverted back to a year ago!  I had a backup restored but it did not fixed the errors I was already having, so I moved physically every topic and post I wanted to keep to Haunted Asylum and removed the Role-Playing.
