Hi. I have the gallery, the store, and will be adding the classifieds soon. I am currently using the default Core Theme. Does anyone know of any other themes that dont require you to recode or design new buttons?

Find ones that don't use images for tabs (Dilber MC, Big Blue, PDX-DK, there's a bunch really). Those use textual elements that are stylized via CSS. I will only ever use those types of themes. Recoding is almost always necessary to either reposition or rename new functions.

Check out http://www.tinyportalmedia.com I believe most of their themes have support for my major mods including Gallery, Store and Classifieds

If I change the theme, will I have to redo the settings, permissions, etc.? Does trying out a theme reset permissions, etc..?

You will not have to redo the permissions or settings only thing for custom themes is they require a button/link to the gallery,store,classifieds etc.
