Hi there,

Considering adding the store and classifieds and have a couple of questions:

First (and this might be a dumb questions but....) will auctions and listings (either in the store or through free listings) all appear in when a member selects "most recent posts"?

About the store, how does it work in way of people paying to have their own store, do you add a separate user group for those having stores?  Also, if you charge for users to have a store, how much do you charge?

The store modification does not allow users to open their own store. The store mod only allows the main admin on the forum to setup a store to sell products.

The information will not appear in the recent posts I do have a mod that adds classifieds listings under recent posts in a separate section on the board index.

But I do believe when you create a item to add to your store you can use a different paypal address other then the default (your own) paypal address.

This way the admin could add items for other members and use the members paypal address for the members items.

btw: the store mod is awesome!

It's just about paid for itself already. Smiley

Is that what you do ApplianceJunk?  If so, what do you charge people to have their product listed in the store?  What if someone buys multiple items from multiple members, will they be directed to pay separately to everyone?

I wouldn't recommend using that function if you are coming to have many different sellers. The store isn't' really meant for that purpose.

What I had in mind was for me and my partner to use the store.

He is also creating some videos and I was going to list them in our store then use his paypal address.

It would just be the two of us at this time, maybe three of use later on.

What kind of problems could I expect to run into doing it this way?

I don't do it yet. I was not going to charge them anything.
I would just do it for one or two members that already help us out a lot on our site.

Would I be able to break the store's categories into individual stores perhaps?  Each category is like a separate store?

You would not be able to use the shopping cat since there could be multiple sellers in cart instead you would just have the buy now buttons.

Hi Jos, IMHO it would be a better option to do what you're after by using Classifieds & charge that way....

I've used the alternate paypal option for a friend who sells a couple of things in my store, he gets the info back from paypal ok & I've got the copy of the sale which I can forward to him if needed.

SMF Store is awesome, can definately recommend it. Great support service as well.  Cool
