Hello all.
I would love to get both the SMF store nd the SMF classifieds but.....there's always a but..lol.. there is no way my host is going to allow fsockopen. I'm blue in the face trying to work out a solution with them. The only way I can do it is to install my own PHP,...no easy task. Is there any way around that function so I can buy both and get back to building my site?

Not a 100% requirement just adds a little extra protection for orders. I could fix the transaction file so it would not require fsockopen if needed.

I figured out how to install my own instance of php.ini per domain. So all works as it should, thanks.
Now I just need to figure out how to add the button to the Outline_Multi_tp theme. I'll have a look around.

If you have a php.ini file from an old site / host or something you might be able to look around in it for ideas, works for me sometimes. So if you dont mind me askin what kinda site are you gettin ready to build and do we get any sneak peeks heh. I like checkin out other peoples sites to see what kinda ideas they use to build em.

I created my own php.ini file and cgi-bin inside the root of my domain. Also an htaccess file.As my host would not change the settings for this function to work, and I had another issue where I couldn't run a Teamspeak bloc for a gaming squad, I did a little research and simply asked them if I could install my own  php.ini. They said sure and even pointed me toward some helpful info.
As for the site,....let's just say I found a need and I found a surplus source of product. This will enable some manufacturers and suppliers to recoup some money on some product that otherwise may have been lost. And it will allow buyers to find perfectly good product at a much lower price.
I really, really hope this works as recent back surgery has almost put me in the disabled category. But...I'm not fool enough to think it wil be a magic overnight success, so I keep looking for other avenues. I'll post a link once I get it going. I appreciate your interest and I'll keep you updated.
If anyone else has similar issues where you have no access to your php.ini, I could post up a little explanation of the process I went through, and was very easy to implement. It works very well for my domain but wouldn't guarantee it for everyone. It could also pose a security risk if you don't know what settings to use, so I'm a little apprehensive about posting it.
Thanks,
B-Lute
