Hi,

I would like it once a picture is uploaded that it would return to the previous category, and not go to view of all user images.

Also can this gallery accommodate audio files?

It can be done requires custom code.
The reason it redirect to the user's images area is first images can be uploaded i different areas in the gallery from categories, user categories, and from the myimages page link.
Second if the image requires approval the user would not see inside the category and may try to repost the image again. The myimages states whether the image was approved or not.

The gallery does not support audio files at this time.
