Can you hide prices and use the SMF Store as a quotation system only?  This means site users can still select product items to inquire and put them in their Cart.  After submission of the form, those item inquiries are sent to a pre-defined e-mail address of the Administrator for example.  So the Admin can reply to the site user for the prices of the items.  This means payment should be disabled or processed manually.

In the store backoffice, I checked the Hide Prices and unchecked all payment options to disable them.  But it seems both doesn't work.  Prices are still displayed publicly and submitting the form causes payment validation error.

How do I correctly hide prices and disable payment?

Not with the current version of the Store.

Currently you can not hide all prices from being displayed and disable all payment methods.

The disabling of prices could be possible but sending a shopping cart/item with out making a payment would require a good amount of effort to support.

I am wondering what is the "Hide Prices" option in the Layout tab for?

I also read here somewhere that it is possible to make payment manual.  What does that mean?  I thought it is the same as disabling it.

That just disables the price from being shown in the category listing view of the store items.

The manual payment option is if you want to skip paypal processing. And manually collect credit card information, e-Check orders. Not recommend.
