My site uses SMF 1.1.8, TP 0.9.8 and Gallery Lite 1.7.5.1.
My gallery has 4 categories, one category consists of 370 pictures and the others have less than 100 each.

I had no issues for the past couple of years. However, in recent weeks, after I had  viewed a picture, the site hung. By the way, I use Firefox as my default browser. I then close Firefox and when I tried to get into the site again, the error message says "Network Timeout". It happens intermittently.

My questions are:
(1) Is there a limit to the number of pictures allowed in a category or, for that matter, in Gallery Lite?
(2) I had complained to my host but they said the problem is at my end. Is there a bug in Gallery Lite which I am not aware of?
(3) If I upgrade to Gallery Pro, will I have to re-upload all the pictures?

1. There is no limit in the number of pictures in a a category. Has been tested with several thousand images. A couple hundred should not cause any issues.
2. Not that I have heard. Is it only when viewing a picture? No other pages in the gallery
3. No all pictures are imported from Lite to the Pro edition.

You can try upgrading. It might a network issue either from the host or your computer. The site seemed slow when I was browsing it.
