I purchased the SMF Shop mod several months ago to sell my SMF themes - i chose this mod after seeing in the mod description

- Supports digital products that can be downloaded from the store
- Secure digital downloads only active after payment has been completed.
- Guest purchase product support

what the mod description doesnt state is that guests cant make digital purchases so basically this mod is pretty useless to me with this condition upon guest purchases which means a waste of $89 and in effect the mod description is misleading

so can this be changed, can i make the shop accessable to guests to make these digital purchases

also the fact that guests cant make digital purchases should be clearly stated in the mod description for people, like myself, who solely wish to use this mod for digital downloads where the majority of purchases will be made by guests

I can make changes but how would digital downloads be made secure if the purchase is by a guest? Couldn't anyone download the file?

I could allow people to have direct access to the file but that would allow anyone to use the link after the purchase has been made.

would either of these suggestions be viable

an email is already sent to the purchaser with the link to the digital download, could a download code be generated that could be sent in an email that would have a specific ammount of downloads it can be used for so it can be set to once and once used it cant be used again so preventing it being used again

or someone elses suggestion

Would it be possible to have some sort of temporary (or guestID) account created at time of purchase that would allow for the download, then be automatically deleted as soon as the download was complete? There are other mods that use "alternative" accounts. You could even grab a unique identifier by IP or something, so that multiple purchases could be made at the same time.

these are just ideas, but I really do not know what all that would involve.

I would probably do the first a link that works x amount of times. Also have to consider that a product can multiple files so a link will need to be generated for each file in the product.

that would be the most logical as that is a system used for many types of paid digital downloads - if that feature could be incorporated into the SMF 2.0 RC2 update that would be a very welcomed feature

Allow Guests to purchase items without a membership on the forum. Note: This will not work for digital products
Guests can purchase digital downloads using secure download link

I would have both checked. So also check "
Allow Guests to purchase items without a membership on the forum"

Yeah I forgot to remove "This will not work for digital downloads" since we now have the secure download link method so that text on that option was not correct.
