How exactly is the total shipping cost for an order figured? And when does it get applied to the order?

Shipping is calculated in a couple different ways.

The first method is you would set up the shipping cost of each item.
When add/edit an item there is an option to set the shipping cost of an item and you place how much an item costs to ship in that area.

The other option is the shipping condition system. You can set if an order is between a certain range to either charge a certain amount of shipping or a percent based on the order total.

That would tell me that we would need to set a ship charge high enough to cover going to the furthest destination to cover ourselves. Do you think you may do an update to it that would let a customer click on a get shipping total from ups based on the total weight of the order and where it is shipping to?

It is a possible in the future to do realtime quotes from the usps but would require to get the users shipping zipcode prior to checkout.

The store allows you to set how much weight an item/product is in lbs.
You can then setup in PayPal itself outside of the store default shipping prices based on the weight of the order

I have checked out the PayPal from the link above and I guess that would do for now. It would be great to have real time shipping for both UPS and FED-X if possible. Hope to see an update for this soon.

Thanks a lot for your response,
