I'm getting a lot of people saying they can't download things from my site. I have all the latest updates but still people are struggling.
"Just a quick comment... the download link worked fine using Internet Explorer, but doesn't work for Firefox 3.6. Keeps reporting that I wasn't logged in (even though I was) Regards!"
It appears to be a problem specific to Firefox 3.6. Its kind of important that people get these files. . .
help?

Are you using the latest version of the downloads system?

Yes the very latest version. I'm getting all sorts of conflicting stories but. . . the theme of it is that they are being told that they aren't logged in when they are. . . and that when they log out and log back in they have to re-navigate over to the file they want only to be told they haven't logged in!

What kind of settings do you have for the downloads?
I have firefox 3.6 installed and use the downloads system on ezportal.com and was able to download the files without being logged out.

Yea I'm not able to re-produce their errors either. But the fact that I'm getting them from multiple people suggests there must be SOMETHING going on. The settings? The only restriction is that they have to have an account on the forum. Guest's cant download. Thats it.

I have one idea I am going to try. The only case is for somebody as a guest clicked the link. Then tried to sign in. The browser might cache it so going to do a random url.

Try this file and see if it still happens.
Copy it to themes/default/

I'm not using the default theme. Will that matter?

I put it in there. Just got this note. . .
Just a quick comment... the download link worked fine using Internet Explorer, but doesn't work for Firefox 3.6. Keeps reporting that I wasn't logged in (even though I was) Regards! March 10, 2010, 06:55:20 AM Drux315
I think/hope that was before I changed the file. Hope that fixed it. (not sure what you did)
Hey do you know in what php file the permissions error notifications are hidden? I'd like to re-word those to ask people to create an account for themselves instead of just saying "YOU DON'T BELONG HERE!"

I see other people are having this issue too, so here I go again with another attempt to get this sorted out
I am still having this issue of mine with the downloads sending the member to the log in page. I have tried everything you have suggested. I have gathered information as you requested and there is no specific browser or operating system causing this. It's getting my site a bad name now and I'm growing weary of trying to find a solution on my own. I know you siad you didn't know what causes it, but are there any hacks that might be conflicting with this one?
Here is everything I have installed
Mod Name Version 1. Downloads System Pro 1.0.8 2. EzPortal 0.3.1 3. Downloads System Pro 1.0.7b 4. EzPortal 0.3.0 5. Aeva ~ Auto-Embed Video & Audio 6.9.100 6. Downloads System Pro 1.0.13.1 7. EzPortal 0.3.3a 8. Gender on Memberlist 1.0 9. SMF 1.0.19 / 1.1.11 Update 1.0 10. Manage Members Membergroups 1.0.0 11. Ultimate Profile 0.9 12. EzPortal 0.3.5 13. Downloads System Pro 1.0.9 14. Downloads System Pro 1.0.10 15. Downloads System Pro 1.0.11 16. SMF 1.0.18 / 1.1.10 / 2.0 RC1-2 Update 1.1 17. Stop Spammer 2.3 ] 18. EzPortal 0.3.6 19. Downloads System Pro 1.0.13
Please can you help me find a solution to this, there has to be something causung it, it's happening all the time, not just one offs and with a variety of people from different countries, etc.
I never did get an answer when I asked where in the code for this does it say anything about logging in to the forum. Guests can't download, only members, so they are signed in when they try. They click on the download and it says they have to be logged in to do that and sends them to the log in page, but they are already logged in.
I really want this fixed, it's a pay mod and therefore I'd like it to work, this has been going on since I first installed the mod, way back almost a year ago
