Hi,

It would be awesome to have the same mod as SMFgallery but instead of images it's videos from youtube. So members can post videos (take the link from youtube) in the youtube gallery.

it is , but don't forget that smf gallery doesn't "allow" links , only uploads , and that's really annoying !!! actually that's the reason why i am not using it !!!

It's cool, that anyone out there need/looking for this stuff.

I have coded a new and seperated user-profile-system for SMF (works with all known versions). In the next step I will will put in some new features, f e the posting of youtube (and myvideo etc.) movies.

Every user got a guestbook, his own admin-area for profile and in the really near future (maybe today) some new features.

Good idea, but forget youtube.
Let members upload video to our servers.

I want other appliance technicians to be able to upload there own "how to" repair videos to our forums.

That would be okay, but video sucks up server storage (which can mean CHA-Ching...to us smalldonkies!).

Yeah, your right. How about having a video gallery with the option of posting youtube or downloading or members could download there own videos.

Not just any members, but special group members.

I have a appliance tech group and these are other technicians that help on our site.
This way not just any one could upload videos to our site, but anyone could post youtube in the video gallery.

it wouldnt be SUPER Hard to add video to smf gallery, i mean, its slightly above my comfort zone, but some combination of good old fashion mod writing, with ffmpeg and flowplayer...  a piece of code for the upload of the file, maybe with a max file size you could set (which would also have to be less than the max size set by php) then the code passes a command line to ffmpeg to convert the file uploaded to flv, then code to display the new flv file using flowplayer... it would be a truly sweet smf mod, turn your forum into your own little youtube, and then of course, maybe add in code to link to youtube videos for those who arent hip on using thier own bandwidth
