I have an installation of SMF Gallery Pro on my site with a large number of categories and images which I have taken the time to import from existing folders. I noticed that while adding these categories, the more I added, the slower the site would become to add each subsequent category. If I now wish to edit or move any exisiting category it takes forever to carry out the request. The gallery is also slow to browse. I guess the obvious answer would be that I've added too many images and categories for this code to cope with but I didn't expect this to be the case.

Is there any modification or adjustment I can make to help with this problem?

Hmm, it should not be that slow.

Can you add the following code to your settings.php file
$db_show_debug = true;

Then click on the "Queries used" link near the bottom and and get the list of the quieres and time they took.

Here are the queries used.

http://www.shoppingtvbabes.co.uk/queries1.txt

http://www.shoppingtvbabes.co.uk/queries2.txt

queries1 shows those on loading the gallery index (top level)

queries2 shows those on trying to reorder a category (warning - LONG list!)

I would disable "Count child categories" for now.
I have an idea how I can improve the speed of picture count totals.

Also don't forget to upgrade to the customer group via the license button to get access to more forums and mods for the Gallery.
