Author Topic: Uploading pictures from camera phone directly to gallery.  (Read 3417 times)

It'd be really cool, and novel, if someone could:

1. take a picture with their camera phone
2. upload that picture to the gallery into their personal gallery

... I have no idea how to do this. Somehow, the script would have to identify their cellphone as belonging to forum member x, y, or z.

That would be pretty hard to do not sure how the pictures are stored on the phone. Maybe if there was a way to email it to an account on the forum.

Yeah, I think so. When I take a picture of something, I can send it to my friends by entering their cell phone numbers.

  • The cell phone captures the image.
  • The cell phone sends the image to an email account on the forum
  • The forum then posts any images into the associated user's gallery.

Man that sounds almost impossible.

Well, I was useing Coppermine and then Gallery2 for a while and Coppermine had this working.. What it would do is this:

There was a special script that, via a cron job would check the e-mail account every so often and if there was a message that had an attachment it would verify it was an image and then copy it to a directory on the server.  It would then run the import-from-directory utility build into coppermine.
