Hello,

I posted the following on the SMF forums, but am wondering if it might be something you would be interested in doing? It seems to me your WelcomeMessage mod has most of the pieces that would be needed to receive command-line input to do this, but hacking your code would be way over my head.

=====================

Hello,

We are starting to use SMF and one request that has been made, in the transition for people to stop using email, is the ability to create a new topic under a specific board by email.  That is, to be able to route an email message to SMF and strip the subject out as a new topic name, and the body out for the text.

Of course, the system notifications for this would have to also work.

Is there anyone out there that has already done this?  My guess is one would have to write a script that would execute under an alias on the server which pushes the info directly into the database, but this is to advanced for me to do on my own.

best regards,
Mark

Hello All, newbie here, well, newbie to this forum anyway. Smiley

I have this mod installed in 1.1.9 and it works fine so a big thank you to the developers. PayPal here I come Smiley

Anyway, a question. The mod produces a NEW post in the Board as designed. Is it possible to hack this mod to APPEND the message to a current topic already there, as though it was a REPLY to that topic?

Cheers for any guidance on this.

Is possible to hardcode to post to a specific topic you would need to modify the createpost data that is passed to it by the welcome topic mod and just pass the topic id in that data and it add it as a reply

Hi having some problems with this mod in 2.0 RC2

Was working fine... suddenly the [username] tags stopped working, so it is posting a welcome message without the peoples username in it

I deleted the origianal welcome message and made a new one and same problem

So today i went to edit it and change the [ to a { just incase

but now it wont let me edit the welcome message or even create a new one

for both it just says Invalid value inserted or no type specified.

Make sure you have the latest version of the Welcome Topic mod from SMF's modsite.

For SMF 2.0 you need to use [ and ] { and } no longer work since they are reserved characters.

I'm using SMF 2.0 RC2 and am also having a problem with the [username] function in that it doesn't return anything to the post
I'm using it in both the topic and subject but it just doesn't display anything

Results are from genuine members registering on the forums
www.vdsr.co.uk

Any help ?

Thanks

It's by email

The post is being created, it's just that the [username] is showing blank

I'll see what happens next time we get a new registration

Thanks for the mods by the way
