SMF Classifieds Features Requests


Post any feature requests in this topic for the SMF Classifieds. If you post them in this topic I will have a better understanding of what is needed and what to put in the intial release.

Ok here are a few of the features that I think would be nice.  Most of these would probably be standered features but here they are.
 
A permissions set via the admin panel for the following.   Based on membergroup and a option to base it on a post based group the ability to view,  and upload pictures for ads.   Have a setting so the image would be resized to a size set via the admin panel.  Have it where each catagory  could have seperate permissions for viewing and for uploading ads,  Maybe have a field where when each user submits a ad they can enter there paypal addy for payment. (or something similar)  Have it to where you can  configure the length of the ad.  Have a configuration for a length of time a ad can run.  These are just a few I can think of right now.  If I come up with more I will post.

no photo ads, single photo ads, multi photo ads, paid options to ad to ads.  Allow user to renew, edit, or delete ads.  Ads posted for one week, one month.  Automatic email sent to user to renew ad.  Automatically delete ads after "x" amount of days if not renued.  Allow visitor to search classifieds ads.

Allow admin to create categories for ads to be placed under.  Ability to integrate "ad management mod" and or google ads.

Ability for visitor to see thumnail of item on main listing.  Then click image for bigger image.

Good classified examples..... photopost (not bad, but I find it dull... but it is tied and tested), 68classifieds(cool),  Joomster.com classifieds... (nice!).  An active site running some other script is UsedVictoria.com.  It is very user friendly, but I think it is there own script.

small donkey - did you mean no photo ads in the beginning of that post?  I'm confused by it as the post goes on to detail examples of allowing photos in ads.  Maybe I'm missing the point?

Here's an example of a classified site I run using e-classifieds.net's solution.  It's very detailed and well thought out, as you'd expect from a paid-for solution.  If something seems to be missing there, it's because it's an option in a higher-end version - mine is mid-pack in their range of options.

I'd suggest taking the major cues from something like this and adding the nicer items folks want and detail here.

There is definitely more than one way to skin this cat (skin this app???), so my vote is to take the main features used by systems with time and money invested in R&D and add on niceties and thoughtful touches from there.

Humm, it ment options.  Users can place ads with or without photos and options for addtional photos.

No offence to e-classifieds... but way way too costly!  I use to run e-classifeds but... free is better or atleast something that does't have a monthy fee associated to it (if you have a choice to buy a gym membership or buy an actual gym... well I'd buy the gym in a heart beat!). 

I run 68Classified on one of our sites (CanadianHorseWorld_dot_com) it has an amazing amount of features and I can access code...etc.  The only thing you will see is it is a different look than my SMF scripts.  It would be nice to have a MOD that blends seamlessly.

I will be adding classifeds to AdventureBC_dot_com, and I am itching for SMF Classifieds.

What would you say the best time frame for adding this feature to our site would be?  AdventureBC_dot_com.  I love what SMF/SMFHacks offers and look forward to everything you offer!
