Title: Adding my own Icons to the Downloads
Post by: Snuffy on November 01, 2011, 02:50:45 pm
1st. off I am under SMF 2.0.1 and have TP as well along with my Downloads Pro.

Here is a link to my downloads:   http://www.goldenbearsden.com/index.php?action=downloads

If you use the link above you will see that I have added my own custom icons to the Download Categories and also to the Subcategories as well, of what looks like folders like what you see below.

I would like to add some small icons to the file lists as well along side each individual file listed with the text and zip and pdf icons as the second icon you see below.

Is there a way to do this?

As when I go to the edit of a file it's self, I don't see the boxes at the bottom to add an icon like in the edit area of a Categorie or Subcategorie.

So can we add an icon to each file listed inside the categories or subcategories, I got a feeling this is easy and I am just not seeing it.   So let me know if you can help me to get this working . . . . .    ;)

Looking at it you would need to add another column in the downloads.template file?
Now how are you determining which icon is shown. Based on file extension? Or do you want an option for each file.

Yes I understand the adding a new column to the template, and I was thinking along the lines as being done by the File area and Child areas as I have shown, where it is something that you can setup in the admin screen by setting a link to the graphic files you want to show on the left in the new column.

BUT! I also understand that would be a lot of extra code to add to the system and get that to work, and would most likely be something to add in a later update of the program rather than try to jerry rig the code and have to redo it every time an update is added to the download system.

As you my have guessed I am not a programmer and working with the code is very new to me so any changes like this I would leave upto you and your team if you felt it was worth adding to a update later on . . . .   ;)
