Suggestions / RSS feed to auto create a new forum post

Hi SMFHacks

Is there a mod available (or is it possible) to take an RSS feed from an external website and auto create a new topic with title, excerpt (say 100 characters) and link to where the feed came from.... There are plenty of addons that do this for wordpress sites but i cant find one for smf and i think forum admins might like a mod that does this.

This way I could auto post from relevant websites.

Suggestions / social share icons on all posts and topics

Hi SMFHacks.

Is there a mod available to add social share icons to all existing posts on a forum? My forum has 28,000 posts right now but interest and posts have been declining for some time so I wonder if I can get some people back by offering a social share to members...

Hi all (SMFHacks)

I have a few friends who are photographers and have been looking at ways to sell their images.... between us we have over 100,000 images of a reasonable quality... many of us are writers, naturalists, wildlife guides etc ..

My question....

With a Forum and the available SMF hacks that are available here, would it be feasible to create a member generated gallery with images for purchase and download?

Image file size is an issue... On average my printable images exceed 80MB each

However I see that each board could be an image author and a platform to promote their images... with links to download the hi res originals....

Hi all,

i was just wondering what other forum owners think about the increase in facebook/twitter users in the last few years and how that has affected your forum...

I have run my forum www.iberianatureforum now since 2009 and sometimes it feels like "flogging a dead horse"... I also use facebook but still rely on good solid conversation in a forum... New topics have dropped alarmingly and people are logging in less...

I actually think that people will start coming back when facebook starts charging for gallery and other bells and whistles...

Any thoughts?

Hi all,

I have been running a forum powered by SMF since 2009 and have the Gallery and Adseller pro mods.... I also run various other Joomla powered websites and I just wanted to say that in no forum or addon help area have I ever founds such a great service as I have here at SMFHacks.com

Where else can you upload files you can't fix and within a few hours (sometimes minutes) you get the file sent back fixed and prepared for whatever you want to use it for?

The prices of the mods are very low for what they are and the support service is 100 percent.

I just wanted to say a public thankyou.

Hi there,
i have renewed my gallery pro as I am running the 4.0beta1 version...

Is it just a question of using the package installer for this upgrade or is there anything I need to do first? i am running smf 1.1.19

Hi all,

Been a while since I posted here.... I'm working on a new forum project and would like to use ad seller pro to display google ads.... After reading the instructions here i'm still not sure how to do this...

First I'd like to have ads display under the menu like here at smf hacks.... I have enabled this banner area but when i go to create a new ad for this position i dont know where to paste in the code from my adsense account...

Support / Showing latest images on index page YaBB theme

Hi all,

Could someone tell me how to add the latest image uploaded to my forum index page? I have tried a search but can't find anything for the versions I am running...

I am using 2.0 RC1 of SMF and 2.0.5 of Gallery Pro

I have the box ticked in gallery config to show latest but I believe I have to copy some code as I am using the Classic YaBB SE Theme

Support / Sql Database error on sending newsletter

Hi Mr Hacks...

I sent my newsletter out and see that in my SMF error log I have a couple or database problems.

Database Error: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'SET isViewer = 1 WHERE ID_EMAIL = 1' at line 1

and I don't know if this is connected but I haven't seen this error below before

Can you advise a fix for this? I also had an auto mail from SMF system telling me that SMF could not connect to the database...

Site is working though.. Is the problem happening when someone clicks a link in the newsletter?

I have sent a few test emails from newsletter pro and would like to delete them. I also would like to delete the links.. There is mention of "edit and delete links" but I cannot find any delete button for anything...

Support / place text in the description box

Hi all,

Is there a way to add some pre determined text into the description box on the upload an image screen?

My members seem to be forgetting to place good descriptions so I want to place a few lines there to remind them of the gallery rules with the idea that they delete that text and write their description.

Support / image uploading but thumbnail not created

HI,

Up to yesterday the gallery was working perfectly.

Now this morning I see that when an image is uploaded and the screen refreshes the thumbnail is not there and no clickable link to the image. My hosts have done something to the server that has made the gallery unusable I think...

Is it something to do with the image manager on the server?

There are a lot of error messages as well.

Hi all

I am getting this error in my forum log whenever anyone looks at images in the gallery

8: Undefined index: gallery_text_title

The image title is appearing above an image as normal

I am using the Babylon theme not the default theme.

It happens even when a guest views an image and I think even when spiders crawl them because over night it produced 72 pages of this one error..

Can someone help me fix this?

Presales for Products / Buttons for Babylon Theme

Hi,

I really like the look of the Gallery system you have created.

I have installed the lite version and all seems Ok. I have uploaded images and used the search so I guess all my server requirements are Ok

I am not using the default theme on smf so the button on the forum pages is not visible yet.. I am using the direct link instead.

I am using the Babylon theme that just has some colour css changes and I have a button set installed.

I would like to upgrade to pro and create the gallery with images and categories before I place the button on the front end. (A nice surprise for my members)

Is there a button for use in the babylon theme?

Is it very easy to make the button show on the babylon theme?

Is there a step by step guide to edit the theme index to add the button code?
