61  Badge Awards / Support / Re: Arcade Ratings Badge on: June 13, 2012, 10:44:18 am
So a ratings badge if when ever someone rates a game? Haven't used the rating feature myself.

Correct....

I've been analyzing what parts of my forum aren't being used as often... and that is one feature that could certainly use a "push".

Another idea for a badge... but it would be a "fluff" type badge... a one timer probably... would be to add an Arcade - Favorites badge... as you can add games to a favorites list.

Could you explain the difference between Arcade Master and Arcade Champion?   Do you have to get a certain number of trophys to get master or something?

I know the system keeps count of the number of 1st places someone has... maybe you could expand on the current arcade badges by adding incremental badges:

ARCADE - HIGHEST SCORE (1),  HIGHEST SCORE (5),  HIGHEST SCORE (10), etc... right now we have about 5 or 6 guys battling it out for first place... they keep fluctuating between 12 and 16 games for first...

While we have these Arcade Ratings already:

Arcade Highscore - If you get a high score you get this badge I assume
Arcade Master - Not sure what the difference is between this and Champion
Arcade Champion    - Not sure what the difference is between this and Master

We don't have an Arcade Rating Badge.  How easy would it be to implement an incremental arcade rating badge?  (If you've not noticed,  I'm really pushing for "incremental" badges as they improve the longevity of this mod.  I'm already seeing my number of badges given daily drop dramatically ... but that was expected out of the gate).

Thanks!

63  Badge Awards / Presales / Re: Help me program these awards... Add to list on: June 10, 2012, 04:52:11 pm
My personal want list is above...

What ever badges you work on I recommend you focus on longevity badges first... ones that can have multiple iterations (IE: 10 gallery comment, 25 gallery comments, 50 gallery comments... or 10 posts rated,  25 posts rated,  50 posts rated, etc)... badges that are earned once get old fast.

I'm most interested in the Aeva Gallery badges first as I am trying to initiate activity in that area of my site.

EDIT: I will add one more that I seemed to manage to forget... and it's now being worked on by you I do believe...

Knowledge Base...

It would be awesome for a set of badges for KB... author badge (1, 10, 25)... rater badge (1, 10, 25, 50, etc).... comment badge (you get the trend).

I've had two members complain that the badges system takes up too much vertical space on the left side... making single line posts much longer than before due to the whitespace forced by the inclusion of the badges...

Possible solution / Awesome way to display more badges:  Perhaps make it selectable to display badges in it's current space OR... below the signature ... it would look nice to have perhaps 10-12 badges display horizontally across the bottom of the posts.... opinions?
65  Badge Awards / Support / Remove Badges? on: June 10, 2012, 03:46:09 am
Is there a way to remove badges?  A member of mine somehow got his registration date jacked and he ended up with all 10 anniversary badges...

Thanks!

In an effort to keep things in one place... I propose a "Custom Badge Images" post... I will post all my custom badges you folks are welcome to use... I am no professional... just keep that in mind.

Wink

First up...

Personal Text badge and Facepalm badge

The personal text badge could be automated... though the Facepalm badge will likely be a manually given badge.

Thanks for the info.  I tried a simple custom badge last night and failed.  I figured I'd start easy and work my way up.  I figured a PERSONAL TEXT tag would be easy enough.  Well... it didn't work.  Sucks to know what you want to do... but not how to do it.  Perhaps when you have time you could write up a tutorial for those of us who really know very little about what they are doing other than where to hack stuff in, etc... Wink

EDIT: Moved badge to it's own post.
68  Badge Awards / Support / Non "Badge" Related Questions on: June 07, 2012, 12:46:35 pm
I've asked but got no response ... and a number of these questions are spread around so I figured I'd put them all in one place and use this thread to ask non-badge related questions:

Here goes...

(1) Are there plans for the large badges?   I ask as the current "level" and "posts" badges and any other badge with a "level number" included aren't designed very well as a small icon.  You can not read the level numbers at all.  This would be a moot point if,  for example,  the large badge would load and display ala a TOOL TIP when you hover over a small badge... (for example)

(2) Are there plans for either a master list of badges OR (more preferably) a dynamic list of badges one has yet to earn?

...I'll add more as they come to me.

Thanks!
69  Badge Awards / Support / Avatar Badge on: June 07, 2012, 12:41:05 pm
Maybe it was a cache issue... but it appears that one does NOT get the avatar badge if one uploads an avatar.  I uploaded one on my test site and got no badge... I waited a few minutes... nothing.  I went in to profile and chose an avatar from one of the stock ones and I was instantly given the avatar badge.

Oh,  to be clear,  I am not complaining about updates... Smiley

Just trying to organize myself on how to get it done.   Posting which file(s) have been updated each update would go a long way to helping.

Thank you...

It's now getting more and more difficult to keep track of which edits are being included in the next update and which I need to re-apply after the next update, etc..

Any way you can provide the code changes for each file with each update ... or provide a list of files that were update so we can manually drop those ones in rather than having to go through package manager then re-apply all the different updates that aren't included etc...

...or do you have a better solution/suggestion on how I should tackle this?

Thanks!
72  Badge Awards / Support / New User - Instant Badges ... Needs Tweaking on: June 06, 2012, 12:29:22 am
Ok... so I sign up as a new user.  During the process I simply fill out the fields as normal...

These are the badges I get right away:

Combination To Test123
Level 2 To Test123
Level 1 To Test123
Karma To Test123
Webmaster To Test123
Gender To Test123
Location To Test123
Avatar To Test123

OK... now, how do we get the COMBINATION badge to ignore this first set of badges as the way it works now,  it sort of defeats the purpose of the badge if you get it right away... right?

Also.. I think the Levels need to be tweaked upward slightly?  Can I do that manually?

Finally... i am not sure why I am getting a karma badge... though the system DOES set you up with 100 karma from the get-go... how can I fix/tweak that badge to ignore the first 100 points?

Thanks!

74  Badge Awards / Support / Re: Apple Badge on: June 05, 2012, 06:33:06 pm
Thanks...

I also have another user TRYING to get a mobile badge... keeps reporting different OSes and what not he's tried... but no such luck.  What does the mobile badge look for?

Thanks again...
75  Badge Awards / Support / Apple Badge on: June 05, 2012, 06:25:49 pm
It seems that using Chrome on a mobile phone kicks the Apple badge in ... as Google Chrome will have safari in the user agent string regardless of OS...

At least that is what one of my users is reporting.
