SMF Store 1.1 Released

Additions and changes for SMF Store 1.1
+Added Coupons. Coupons support percent or amount based. Coupons can be set to use on all items or a specific item. Coupons can also expire and have a usage limit.
+Added shopping cart system
!Fixed editing products and guest view item page
!Fixed importing files from a path on the website
!Fixed guest redirection for buying items
+Added a more secure price checking system.
!Fix formatting display of USD currency to two decimal places
+Added option to mark an item as being shipped or not shipped
+Added total on main store view and settings page to list the total items not shipped if they require shipping
+Added an inventory section in the admin panel to view the current number of items currently in stock for items that require stock
+Added main page blocks for most recent, most viewed, most commented, and top rated products.
+Added product download links expire after a number of days
+Added option to download transaction logs on the view transactions page
!Fixed searching for transaction id on view transaction page
+Added notes page on give free product and allowed you to edit transactions for notes.
+Added option to specify a different PayPal payment address for a product.
!Fixed changing member groups on item purchase. If a primary group is set then it adds the new group in the users secondary member group.

Store testing with PayPal Sandbox

This guide is going to go over testing with PayPal Sandbox.

SMF Store comes with a couple debugging features.

To enable debugging create paypal.txt in your smf forum's root directory and make it writable
Then inside storeipn.php in the root of forum
Find
$paypal_debug = false;
And change to
$paypal_debug = true;

This will log any paypal query to the text file.

Now on to testing the store with PayPal sandbox
The sandbox allows you to test the store with fake credit cards, echecks, and PayPal payments.

First thing you need to do is signup for a sandbox account at
https://developer.paypal.com/

Once you have an account at the sandbox you can create fake paypal accounts on the sandbox to test with the store.

To enable sandbox mode for SMF Store you will need to edit the database using phpMyAdmin or another database editor.
Once inside your database you will need to go to the smf_settings table;
Find the variable
store_sandbox
And change the value from 0 to 1

This will allow the store to enter sandbox mode and will accept the sandbox accounts in your developer account.
This is a great way to test the store.

Keeping your users up to date about your products

One key when running an online store is keeping your community up to date on the latest products that you are offering or any major updates that have made to a product.

SMF has a built in newsletter option that allows you to reach all your users on your forums. Located in your Admin section of your forum under News and Newsletters. The newsletter option allows you to select which member groups to either send a mass email, or mass personal message to their forum account.

Also when you create a topic there is an option to announce a topic which works the same way as the newsletter feature to mass email the member groups that you select to receive the announcement.

When writing your newsletter create an effective subject line since this is what the user will see first in their email client and is a main factor whether the user will open the email message or not. Last for the body of your newsletter/announcement give enough information to get the user interested and give them a link to find out more information.

Description:This mod creates a new topic when a user registers on the forum.

If the member requires member activation the topic will be created at that time.

If the member is approved or activated via the admin panel the topic is also created.

SMF Package Parser by Daniel15 has been added to the site.

What does this tool do?

SMF Package Parser allows you to upload a mod either .zip or .tar.gz package.
The tool then will figure all the actions needed to install the mod and then generates easy to follow instructions that allows you to install a mod manually.

In other words translates the .xml files into an easy format to read to install the modifications manually.
