The pointer seems to be appending the url of the user's avatar to the one used by smf for it's own avatars..

for example:

what should be http://www.avatarsurl.com/avatar.jpg

is being processed and displayed as: http://www.mysmfwebsite.com/forums/avatars/http://www.avatarsurl.com/avatar.jpg

any idea why this is happening, thanks any help greatly appreciated?

I've set maximum image requirements on my site, but would like to know if there a way to have images that are larger then the limits set.. be automatically resized down?
