An Error Has Occurred!
« on: September 05, 2007, 06:30:08 am »
Not a valid picture file.

This error occurred when I try to upload an image to Gallery 1.8

The package folder in the packages directory is chmod to 777

Last update list said GD was not needed for version 1.75 and above.

Newbie and lost!

I know there is nothing wrong with the pic but thought someone might have given me an idea on why it won't work on my server (home hosted).

Does anybody have an answer on what this problem may be other than 'the picture works on my forum'?

Another addition to my post:

I noticed that in the configuration it places the path to the gallery in the root directory of my HTML. The actual path is /html/Packages/gallery and not /html/gallery. I then created and adjusted permissions for /html/gallery and this did not work so I then changed the path in the configuration to /html/Packages/gallery and this had no effect either.
I thought that this may help anyone trying to figure out what the problem may be. I have done all sorts of different things and also looked in the config files.
My system is: Linux (SME Server 7.0) with SMF 1.1.3, Tiny Portal 0.9.8 with SMF Gallery Lite 1.0.8.

I hope this can help someone.

Yea I'm having this issue too, just made a new thread about several of my problems. This is listed as well, doesn't look like anybody has an answer. :(

Hmmm, wonder if I should upgrade to the paid version? Do you get answers if you pay for it?

I would not upgrade to the paid version if the lite version doesn't work. Sounds like a server issue.

What more of a server issue could it be if the right packages are installed and the right permissions are in place?

Surely someone out there has encountered the same problem as myself with the gallery. I have seen previous posts on the subject but no answers. I am begging for someone to help me here as I am now at my wits end. It is a great gallery and I really want to use it (and even buy the pro version) but cannot get it to upload the photos.

HELP!

deano...

SMF Hacks said maybe it is a server issue. This could VERY WELL BE TRUE. Where is your site hosted?

I can tell you from EXPERIENCE that MANY of the OVERSOLD Shared hosting sites WREAK HAVOC on forums and forum mods. When I changed to a webhoster that does NOT oversell, ALL MY PROBELMS cleared up.

Where are you hosted at?

Hi Wally, thanks for your response. My hosting is on a server in my home (details in above previous posts in this thread) but being a bit of a newb, I'm not sure on what to check with the errors or what to check to see if PHP or SQL is set up correctly.
