Upgrading from SMF Gallery Lite to Pro
« on: January 17, 2008, 07:21:49 pm »
I've just purchased SMF Gallery Pro, having spent a week using the Lite version (which works really well).  I have one question and one problem concerning the upgrade process:

1.  Will the upgrade process retain the categories, pictures and metadata I have already uploaded?
2.  I have several packages installed so when I attempt to uninstall SMF Gallery Lite I get "test failed" on the following files:

  • ./Themes/default/languages/Modifications.english.php
  • ./Themes/default/index.template.php
  • ./Sources/Subs.php
  • ./Sources/ManagePermissions.php

How do you recommend I proceed?

Rob

1. The upgrade will retain all pictures and data that has already been added using the list edition
2. The main trick with SMF is the packages need to be unistalled in the order in which they were last installed.
If you have many packages you might need to do a manually unistall using the
package parser http://www.smfhacks.com/smf-package-parser.html
Upload the lite edition to that page and it will tell you what files it edits and where and just remove that code to complete the unistall.

Good stuff: the manual package parser is what I need. I had been doing this by reading the XML but this is much clearer.

Thanks for the answers!
