If the file is too large to upload via a form?
« on: May 15, 2008, 10:19:06 pm »
Ok, so I tried to upload a smaller window movie file for testing. Guess it was to big to do through the admin store forum.

Not sure just what this means.

If the file is too large to upload via a form. Then enter the full path on your webhosting to the file.

I tried to ftp the movie file to the forums/store folder were I found the pdf files I added to the store, but I get this message when I try to ftp the video.

Quote
Can't open that file: Permission denied 553 Rename/move failure: No such file or directory : /public_html/forums/store/Dryer_GasDryerOrificeChange_WM9.wmv

So then I try to change the forums/store file permission settings to 0777, but get this message.

Quote
Could not change perms on store: Operation not permitted : /public_html/forums/0777 store

What would be the correct way to go about adding video files to our store?

Thanks again :)

Looks like you are missing part of the path find out the full path under Admin -> Server Settings

The paths above are from when I was trying to ftp the file.

Should I be able to ftp a file to the /store folder?

When I try I get this message from the ftp program.

ok, seems I got it now. :)

I can not ftp to the /store directory for what ever reason..

What seems to works is to create a directory called /videos

I ftp my video to the /video directory

Then I create a item (the video) to sell and put in the full url were that video is stored /home/applianc/public_html/forums/video/test.mov

When I am done creating the item (the video) it renames it and copies it to the /store directory :)

So now I can remove the video I sent ftp to my /video directory because it's now in the /store directory.

So now what keeps google or others from finding and/or viewing the video I have in the /store directory?

Thanks for putting up with all my silly questions. :)
