i sell all virtual products - i have my download attempts set to 3 - in case user has an issue

in the event that they screw up all three attempts, i would like to be able to reset so they can download again

i thought i would be able to do this by changing the Total Downloads frem the "Edit Item Log" screen. However changing this number does not seem to impact the situation and buyers still get the "exceeded max download" message

even if I "give free product" to them, they still get the "max download" message

is this a bug?  is there a php or text file i can edit to clear the items, so that they might download the item again?

is there anyway to clear items from the users' "My Orders" area? - or will everything they've ever ordered stay there permanantly?

thanks for your help!

When using "Edit Item Log" are you resetting the item to zero downloads?
