Software updates

How do I update from version 1.8 to 1.9?  Do I just install and it overwrites?  Do I remove the old and install the new with new data, format or picture loss?

You would need to uninstall the 1.8 edition then install the 1.9 version.

Uninstalling does not delete the picture nor the data just removes the mod files from SMF.

I went to uninstall via the package manager and received a bunch of error messages?
Installing this package will perform the following actions:

Should I proceed?  or update another way?  I did not do anything when I ran into this response.

Update another way manually would be best.
