Installed plugin but what now?
« on: October 07, 2011, 06:48:56 am »
OK - I have paid for and installed the plugin but what do I do now.

No instructions with any of the files on how to install this plugin or configure it once it is installed and nothing on this website either.

Can I either have a refund of have a link to some instructions please. Makes me really angry when I have paid for something only to find they do not include any instructions at all.

I do understand that I have to set up an account at Gigya but I'm not at that point yet. I basically just have the package installed and no idea where to go to input any settings.
Please tell me what I should be doing. A stepby step instruction list starting with links and locations I should be looking for would be best. If not then I can send through a reciept for the purchase and would appreciate a refund.

What a waste of time.

B Harrison

Have an install guide posted at
http://www.smfhacks.com/index.php/topic,4896.0.html

Reposted it here

After installing the package using package manager for SMF.

The next step is to get api keys from Gigya

Step 1:
Visit https://www.gigya.com/site/Register.aspx and create your account. For you website url enter your domain for forum.

Step 2:
After your account is created login in to Gigya.
On the Dashboard tab under Sites you will see the sites listed on your account
There is a "Show Api Key" click that copy the key and enter that Api Key under Gigya Api Key in Social Login Pro Settings

Step 3: The next step is to copy the secret Key. Which is found below sites and partner id on the dashboard in Gigya. Copy that Secret Key and enter that in Social Login Pro settings under Gigya Secret Key.

Step 4. In Social Login Pro settings just check off which login providers you want to use/display such as Facebook and Twitter save and your ready to go!

Hi,

When I click on the link you give it says the following message:

An Error Has Occurred!
The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you.

I'm logged in and am using Chrome on a mac.
Suspect your installation instructions do not exist any longer on the forum or are only accessible to admin perhaps?

I'll have a go at installing on Monday - in the meantime I'd like to suggest you include the installation instructions with the download. I've spent a very frustrating few days trying to get this working and posted on the main SMF forum for help - with limited success.

Basically it's the same old story. Limited documentation leads to unhappy customers, complaints and fewer sales. It's your business so run it as you wish but I'd really think about your end users more and the problems they experience.

Best wishes.

OK, just glanced at the instructions you gave me. But what I need to know is where are the social pro settings in the SMF area?
Thats what I am missing. As I explained in the earlier post, I do understand that I have to set up an account at Gigya but I'm not at that point yet. I basically just have the package installed and no idea where to go to input any settings.

In point 3 you say:
Step 3: The next step is to copy the secret Key. Which is found below sites and partner id on the dashboard in Gigya. Copy that Secret Key and enter that in Social Login Pro settings under Gigya Secret Key.

It's the location of the 'Social Login Pro settings' that is missing.

Please please please send through some screen shot or explanation or links or something so I can find this out.

Best regards

Bob Harrison

I have tried to enter the licence key but it is being refused. I get the erro message:
You have entered an invaild license. License: 'SLPKXKS32ZIH3WH33G6EK'

Here is the email I got when I bought the plugin:

Dear Robert,

You can download Social Login Pro at

https://www.e-junkie.com/d/?t=7GC01954PH727035K&d=alxk9&c=gp

Please note, the download link will expire after 120 hours from now or after 5 attempts, which ever event happens first.

Your code(s) for Social Login Pro:

SLPKXKS32ZIH3WH33G6EK

Signup on our support forums at http://www.smfhacks.com

And be sure to upgrade your account via the license system at
http://www.smfhacks.com/index.php?action=license
This will allow to access other areas of the forum.

Can you either do it for me or re-send a new key for me to use.

Best regards

Bob Harrison

Hi,

OK Now I can see the screen shot you mentioned. I do not have this in the menu of my forum.
This must mean that it is not installed correctly.
I'm out of time so will have to try re-installing this again next week.

Thanks for the help, but again, please consider how difficult it is to use your service. Again, you should include the fact I have to enter the key into the site so I can either view installation instructions or images in the forum. Put this in the email (the text you currently have does not explain this and it just sounds like you want a buyer to join the forum), and most importantly in the instructions you include with the files.

It's been a frustrating experience and I'd rather not do it again to be honest.

Just think of the time you would save replying to customers like me if you just sorted this out!

Best regards, have a good weekend.

Bob

If the files did not install at all could be a file permission issue on your site files which is common if it is the first time installing a mod.

You can check if it installed at all by going to http://www.yourforum.com/index.php?action=slp
If that works you would be taken the settings page of SLP

Hi,
I have installed it and get the green light for the install (see attached screen shot). However, this package does not work and never adds settings options to the menu on the left hand side.
The link you suggested also does not work. It doesn't take me to a settings page, just the main page of the forum.

It's a fresh install of SMF with no other plugins. I have checked all permissions and everything is working fine for the rest of the forum. After installing your package I can see the files in the Packages>temp folder but that's about it. Nothing more. No settings tab or page or anything else. Very frustrating as this is another two hours out of my day.

Can I have my money back please as I'm thinking this is probably not a working package/modification for SMF 2?

Many thanks

Bob

The package works for SMF 2.0 I use it on my sites. I can install on your site if pm me an ftp account and an admin login.
