screen shifts when going from one photo to the next

Gallery Lite 3.1.1a

Just installed Gallery Lite and was doing great until we got some pics loaded and tried to look at them.

When you click on a thumbnail to enlarge it, then click next or previous, the screen the next picture jumps down the page so far that you can only see about half of it - and the next/previous buttons can no long be seen so you have to move the picture back up the screen, look at it and then select the next picture.  Soon as you do that, the new picture moves down the screen and you and to move it up again to see it and click the next button.

Any Sugestions?

Looks like large images are displayed on each page.
What I would do in that case modify the themes/default/gallery.template.php
And move the previous/next links to the top of the image instead of the bottom which would make them stay in the same place no matter the image size.
