Hi,

I set up SMF Classifieds but whenever a listing is made, it's always FREE. I just don't know how to set up a PAID listing.

I can't find the documentation to set up Paid Listings. Please outline step by step how I can set up Paid Listings.

Thank you.

Best regards,
Khai

First you want to enter your paypal email address. Under Admin -> Classifieds Configuration -> Settings
"PayPal Email"
Enter the email address to receive payments at

Two ways to setup paid listings.

Option 1 - Users pay for each listing with a listing credit for a specific category

Option 2 - Listing Credit Packages - Users buy credits which can be used in any category and just deducted from the total.

For both option 1 and 2 to make a category paid.
All you need to do is either on category creation or by editing a category.
Is set the listing cost field and or credits cost field to make a category paid.

Then if you want to use option #2. To setup credit packages. Visit the Admin -> Classifieds Configuration -> Credit Packages.
Just create a package with x amount of credits such as 100 credits for $10 and users will then have the option to purchase credit packages.

Let me know if that helps.

I have now managed to setup using the credit system.

But how do you setup paid classifieds without using the credit system, so that the user can pay using Paypal without having to buy credits?

Edit the classifieds category and set the listing cost field to a dollar amount.

I've tried all this by setting a price but I am still able to submit postings without being asked for payment. Does your answer mean it only works for US dollars?

These are tests done whilst logged in as a regular user and as a member of a group allowed to post ads for free in one instance and not allowed to post in another. All managed to post ads without hindrance and without being asked for payment.

I'm happy to send you template files or grant you admin status and divulge the test accounts so you can help me debug this.

Fixed for next update. Bug was if you had the credit system disabled and user had no credits to buy.
