Customize the accepted type of files per gallery

There is a possibility to Disallow Filetypes on the Gallery.

I was wondering how much development would it be necessary to make it configurable per Gallery Category and the other way around, ie, to only Allow certain File Types.

Basically I want to define .jpg only to all categories, except one where .gif would be allowed.
