SMF 2.0.4 security patch issue?
« on: February 05, 2013, 08:53:01 am »
SMF just issued a security patch 2.0.4.  upon installation, I've received this error and an assistant is unable to access the store front.  It appears that the error is being generated due to something with the store mod:

http://www.classicwinnebagos.com/forum/index.php?action=admin;area=packages;sa=install2;package=smf_patch_2.0.4.tar.gz;pid=02: ini_set() has been disabled for security reasonsFile: /home/XXXXXX/public_html/XXXXXXSources/Subs-Package.php

It looks like it is part of patch that would be my guess.

ini_set() has been disabled for security reasons
This is caused by your webhosting company they disabled the ini_set function.

Can you visit the store ok?

Thank you for your quick reply.

Yes, I can but, at the time I put in the patch, I have a helper who said they couldn't.

Is this something I even need to be concerned about or should I contact the host to enable the file?

In the meantime, I'm installing the patch and will watch the error log to see if the error is recurring or if it was a one-time notice and if it causes any problems with customer orders or anything else.

Well the ini_set function doesn't do anything major so it should be ok.
