Can this be used a substitute for paid subscription?
« on: January 22, 2014, 10:59:31 am »
I've been having issues with my paid subscription for SMF 1.x. It keeps almost all payments at pending status. Could I use this software as an alternative to paid subscriptions? Will it automatically remove the membergroup after x amount of days/months, similar to how the paid subscription mod works?

Yes it will. Just need to have a product setup as a subscription and have it set to move to a membergroup once the expiration expires the membergroup is removed.

Once a subscription is activated, do they get an email saying that they now are part of a new membergroup? (Do we have that option)

And, just before a week, for example, they get a message saying their subscription is about to end?

Furthermore, can this all work without a business PayPal account? How many transactions can occur on a normal account without any restrictions, do you know?

No they do not currently.

Not not currently built in.

Unsure but if you had paid subscriptions mod working without it then it should work the same.

So far the mod is great, however, I've discovered something very ODD.

Situation:

When a purchase is made by a random member, an email gets sent out to me (the admin - to the same email address I added into the input field: Contact Email) saying:

Dear (The purchasers name),

Thank you for your purchase...

The buyer, on the other hand, doesn't receive any email. Have I configured something incorrectly?

Shouldn't I get an email saying someone just bought a product, while the purchaser get the email saying Thank you?

There is a setting in the store that allows the store own to receive the email sent to the end user
Under Store Configuration -> Settings

"Receive copy of sales email" if you have that option checked you will receive a copy of the email they received.

Interesting, but shouldn't the email be a little different for the store owner lol (Perhaps be a bit more informative, telling the admin the person's username and a link to their profile) What good is the person's name if you can't track them down. I hope this can be implemented.

Anyway, when I did a test run, I found that the purchaser did not receive the email :( What do you think may have caused this?

Would have to look at the code. But it should be sent to the user if you are getting a copy of it. Check bulk/junk/spam folder as well for that users email

Okay, thank you.

I just discovered a major issue! The membergroups are being updated as the primary, not the secondary. Could you tell me how I could make it so that the secondary membergroups are changed while the primary ones stay the same?

Open

YourRootDirect/storeipn.php

Find

Code: [Select]
addMembersToGroup($cartRow['ID_MEMBER'], $groupid, 'auto');

Change to
Code: [Select]
addMembersToGroup($cartRow['ID_MEMBER'], $groupid, 'only_additional');

Thanks, but is this tried, tested, and true?
