Problem with category permissions
« on: November 16, 2014, 05:38:30 am »
Not sure if it's a problem of mine or a bug but I can't add new categories with "Add Picture" permissions. If I change the category permissions, they work on "Add Video" but they don't for "Add Picture".

So I added 2 new sub-categories, I see them as Admin but they are not visible for upload to regular members, whatever the permissions I put. However, if I change the permissions regarding videos for those categories, it's working.

I need some support as I don't know what to do to fix this.

!Fixed the category permission page. Not showing both guest/regular permissions if you had both added for category

This didn't solve my problem. Regular members still can't upload to new categories.  There is some problem on the writing the permissions for pictures/categories.  It works with videos, not with pictures.

Can you take a screenshot of your category permissions you have setup.

Here's the screenshot. It works well for all except the 2 last you see for "TMPB Team". I have the same exact config for the Regular Members. The last 2 are new and are sub-categories (maybe it's related with that). If I had and remove the "Add Video", it works on showing/removing from the list of categories where members can upload videos but not for pictures.

Do the parent categories for those subcategories have the add picture/add video permission?

Currently no but I already tried adding permissions to the parent but no changes at all. In fact, the Parent didn't appear also. I also tried to change permissions on the existing categories that are appearing and it works, ie, I can add and remove the permission to add pictures.

It was a nice tip the one about the Parent Category. If I move the gallery to the main gallery, it appears as an option to upload. If I move it back to the Parent Category, it dissapears.

What I want was having a Category that in the base would be empty but would group sub-categories. I'm planning to use Gallery for Events so I would have a Main Parent with a title "Events" and then sub-categories with photos from those events.

Maybe I'm using it the wrong way it was designed for.

Yeah that would be the issue if the parent category doesn't have it then it won't appear for the subcategories.

Hello,

I updated to Version 6.7 a few minutes before. I have detected a Problem with the rights-management:
I created a new gallery. This gallery is for a video-challenge. I set the rights for the members to deny changing and deleting the picture.
The administrators and moderators have full rights.
Then I made a test-upload. Till this point everything works fine.
Now I wanted to change the decription for the test-uplaod with my admin-login and I got an error-message, that I didn't have rights to modify the picture.
I needed to set the rights to the user-Group I'm in, to made the changings.

Did anyone else notice this behaviour and what is the workaround to fix this problem?

Thanks!

Can you post the exact category level permissions you have or screenshot?
