I'm lost in the stacks here. :(

DragonLady:
I purchased the Gallery Pro, and overall I'm happy with it. But I can't seem to figure out how to make it work quite the way I want it to. :(
I have a very busy international sewing forum. I want to be able to give each member a public gallery, and a private gallery. Two galleries per member, just for being an active member. I also want to limit the number of images in those galleries, so I don't have people uploading thousands of images - I'd say 25 images per person, per gallery.
I also want the "public" gallery to be viewable by other members, and the "private" gallery to be viewable by the owner and the admins (so I don't have to worry about someone uploading something completely unacceptable). I want these "private" galleries because I hold a yearly sewing contest, and I'd like the contestants to be able to upload the images of their creations without showing them off to other members 'til time for the contest to begin. However, I do not want them to be used for storing dozens of rip-off embroidery designs or similar -we have very, very few people ever cause trouble, but one bad apple can cause total havoc. ;(
I also want to be able to set up member groups, and allow the members of those groups access to yet another, shared gallery. That is, if I have a member group of 'bird watchers' then I want the users who join that group to be able upload images to the group gallery, again limited to a certain number per person. I don't have unlimited resources, and I don't want dozens of old images cluttering up the place or using system resources. In fact, ideally a gallery -and it's images- would self-delete after a member has been inactive for a year or so...unless I've decided to keep it for some reason...then I could just copy those images to another, more permanent gallery.
Are these things possible?

--- End quote --- If you give the membergroup the user gallery permission they have an option in the gallery called MyGallery which they can create their own mini gallery. They can choose to make it a private gallery for the whole thing or public.

--- End quote --- You can do this with category level permissions. You can setup a public gallery category then assign permissions to the mebergroup you want to have and the others that shouldn't have you deny permission

--- End quote --- One work around to that is to do a membergroup level quota you can choose how much data they can use in bytes to be able to be uploaded into the system.
Some of the other ideas would be somewhat difficult to do and would be a custom coding required.

Okay; I think I have all that, and I think I can make it work.
Is there a way to make "private" galleries actually semi private? That is, I do want -as owner of the site- to be able to see what has been uploaded. I don't see any reason for a private gallery only one person can view -at that point, it's really just using my website as a private hard drive extension. They should only be "private" in the sense of not sharing them with the whole world.
For instance: someone wants help making their clothes fit. Instead of sharing a picture of their gaping blouse with the whole world, they can upload it to a semi private gallery and ask for help from one or two people they know can help. But admin should be able to see, as under no circumstances do I want my site being used for anything illegal, and I'm not going to pay to host someone's personal family album just...because.
Does that make sense?
SMFHacks:
Gallery admin's should be able to see private/password protected gallery images.
