Additional Membergroups
« on: April 30, 2016, 11:08:09 am »
Hi I see you considered including permission for Additional Membergroups some time ago, did you ever do anything with it, I have searched but can't find anything?

I think it is there you can do category level permissions based on membergroup and it checks additional membergroups

Adding a member to the required membergroup as 'additional' only allows them to see thumbnails in our main category, but not open the pics.
However if the same member is changed from 'Additional' to 'Primary' using the same group they can then open the pics as they should.

I can't see a way to change that, I live in hope that you can.

I don't suppose it makes any difference, but I converted from Aeva and thanks to the query you gave me for SQL I moved all pics from 'User Galleries' To a new category where all now reside.

Make sure that additional membergroup under category level permission settings has view image detail permission

The Media member group has that permission.

To clarify, we only have one Media Member group. When we assign that group via the members profile as 'Primary' it works ok, but not if we assign it as 'Additional'

Further to my last:
I created a new membergroup and assigned that to a member, it's doing exactly the same.
If I add the new membergroup as 'Additional' in the profile, they can only see thumbnails, but if I add it as 'Primary' they can then enlarge the thumbnails.

I hope something can be done to rectify this, it's important on our site that 'Additional' membergroup is used for access to the Categories in Gallery.

I think it is an issue of which permissions from which group override each other.

I have tried so many variations of permission's but still can't get it to work correctly.
Member A is given 'Media Member' group as their Primary group and all works as expected, if I change the group to be a 'Secondary' group then he can't enlarge them and gets the error

There is a problem!
You are not allowed to view this category.
As he is a member of a 'Postcount' group as well (Full Member) I have also allowed 'View image details' to that group, but still doesn't work.

Is there anything I have missed, or maybe you could indicate where the problem could be.

I still haven't managed this, is there anything else to try?
Maybe someone could check if all works correctly when the member has permission via an 'Additional Membergroup' set in their profile to open pics and not just the thumbnail.

TIA
