I am interested in upgrading to the Pro version of SMF Gallery but have an error associated with Gallery lite I would like to resolve first (error from SMF log listed below). Or I would like to know how much support I will have if the install of Pro doesn't go smoothly.
Thanks
Gallery Error:
http://weightliftingexchange.com/smf/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=39&action=gallery;sa=edit;id=26
8: Undefined index: gallery_text_oldpicture
File: /home/xxxxxx/public_html/smf/Themes/default/Gallery.template.php
Line: 625

That old error has been fixed with the Gallery Pro.
We are able to install the Gallery for you if you are having issues.
Unistall the Gallery Lite before installing Gallery Pro.
-
Edit: I assume and read that all the categories and pictures the members have already uploaded will not be lost.
-
No that information is saved. Saves all database and picutres uploaded.
-
There is only an option to delete the Gallery lite mod. I believe I once tried to uninstall it to see if it was causing another problem. Deleting it will lose nothing?
Thanks
-
Add this to the package manager url and check if this will allow you to uninstall the old lite version.
;version_emulate=1.1
Should look something like this
http://www.yourforum.com/index.php?action=packages;version_emulate=1.1
-
I don't follow you. Where would I insert this link?
-
Inside the package manager when viewing the packages. You would change the url.
-
In which tab within the package manager? The only one that has a place for a url is the "Download Packages" tab under "Add server". Inserting the link there does add it to the list of "Package Servers". But, if you then click Browse for that server, it says this "Unable to connect to the server. Please try using this URL instead."
Thanks
-
Not actually enter the url in a textbox but change the url in the address bar of your web browser.
-
No, that brought me to my Main Site homepage. In other words, it is a bridged forum with a Mambo CMS and it was that homepage: http://weightliftingexchange.com/
I suppose I could just delete the mod if it will solve the problem. There are only 19 pictures in there right now, 17 of which were posted today by a member. I could just download them, copy the description to notepad and then put them back in the Pro version if its easier than solving this problem.
Thanks
-
Hmm, yeah the url is a little different site the forum is bridged.

Alright, I added the subdirectory its in, /smf and it brought up a package manager. It says in Latest Packages "A number of small bugs and a security issue have been identified in SMF 1.1 Final. You can install this patch (click here to install) to update your version of SMF to 1.1.1."
But, I am running SMF 1.1.4. The uninstall option is available for Gallery lite however. When you click it, it brings up this warning: "Error in Package Installation
At least one error was encountered during a test installation of this package. It is strongly recommended that you do not continue with installation unless you know what you are doing, and have made a backup very recently. This error may be caused by a conflict between the package you're trying to install and another package you have already installed, an error in the package, a package which requires another package that you don't have installed yet, or a package designed for another version of SMF. "
1. Execute Modification ./Themes/default/languages/Modifications.english.php Test failed
4. Execute Modification ./Themes/default/index.template.php Test failed
Perhaps other mods have changed those files so that the uninstall doesn't know how to do its thing?
Thanks
-
Yeah. Probably the best bet would be to uninstall them anyway and then just install the new version their might be some areas were there is double code and would need to be manually removed.
-
As I recall, editing the main tabs in SMF, which I did to add and remove buttons, involved those two files.
-
Tabs are in index.template.php
Modifications.english.php error you can ignore.
-
I uninstalled it, purchased Pro, installed Pro, and it said installation was successful. It then said it was taking me to the settings page, but it kicked me to the Main Site homepage. I assume a problem related to the Bridge? All the old pics and descriptions are there and it looks very cool. Any tests I should run? Even if all is normal, this all happened fast. Anything else I need to do (permissions), a basic intro document to read on changes?
Very nice upgrade.
Thanks
-
There are two links to Gallery in the main tab. Other than that, so far so good.
Thanks
-
I took care of the double tab. Is there a way to make an existing category fall within the new "Member Galleries"?
Thanks
-
Not currently you would need to move each picture in a category to a member's gallery category.
-
I am pleased. If you added a slideshow feature with some simple transitions and even random pan/zoom effects, you would really have something undeniable. I would then use it on at least four other sites.
Thank you.

Feature requests forum is what I decide to add in the next release.
-
Make sure you upgrade your account so you get access to the customer forums under the License button.
-
Thanks. I noticed in the package manager, Gallery Lite is still showing up, in addition to Gallery Pro. Can I delete it?
Thanks
-
Yes you can delete it.
-
Thanks. Happy Thanksgiving.

After removing gallery lite, I now get this error whenever trying to upload an image. I would have posted in support except this seems to be a result of removing lite. Thanks.
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 3200 bytes) in /home/xxxxxxx/public_html/smf/Sources/Subs-Graphics.php on line 306
-
It appears this happens when the image exceeds the allowed height and width. Is there a way to make it tell the user this fact instead of getting this error?
Thanks
-
Is this for any image or a specific type of image? Such as png, jpg, gif? Also how large is the size.
-
I would have to test more to know, but the images I tried were jpegs or jpgs and were smaller than 1100 pixels in any dimension (too big).
Thanks
-
Bump
-
Seems like it is reaching a memory limit inside your php settings try increasing the memory limit to higher value such as 30M if you do not control that file contact your host.
-
I control the server. Can you tell me how to make the change?
Thanks
-
On a windows server you would just edit the php.ini normally c:\windows\php.ini I think it is pretty similar with apache on windows. Not sure where the php settings are stored on linux with apache.
Some places to look on linux
usr/local/lib
/etc/httpd
/etc/php/apache
-
Hmmm. My host says I can't up that limit unless I switch to a dedicated server. Any way to give the members a warning instead of the error message?
Thanks
-
Is it possible this problem is related to these errors in my server logs. Regardless, do I need to copy the highslide folder to the root directory?
File does not exist: /home/myserver/public_html/highslide/highslide.js
File does not exist: /home/myserver/public_html/highslide/graphics/zoomin.cur
EDIT: Because copying the highslide folder to the root seems to have fixed it :)
Thanks

Got this error again today...thought it had been resolved:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2316 bytes) in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/smf/Sources/Subs-Graphics.php on line 306
Could this be because of a long filename? The file is just over one megabyte and is a .jpeg but has a very long filename.
Thanks

That is still a memory limit from the host. The latest version of the Gallery tries to increase the limit to 45mb. Looks like the host is still limiting it to 16mb
