Title: Install help? I'm lost.

What the heck?

I'm really not a programmer.

When I read the install directions, I do not understand them.

Is there an install for beginners thread somewhere that can walk me step by step through how to make this store work?


I just paid 79 bucks for this, and I guess I thought I just had to upload a folder and run a program.. but it looks a little more complicated than that....

In order to install the SMF Store it requires SMF which is a free forum software from http://www.simplemachines.org.

Once you have the forum installed you can then install SMF Store though the admin section of the forum under the packages manager by going to upload package option.

okay.. i got that far... but now i can't figure out how to get back into the store portion of my forum....

After to you login to the forum there should be a Store link on the menu bar.

Also you can go as an admin user to http://openarmsbradford.org/store/index.php?action=store
Which is where you would create categories and add items to a category

To setup the store in the admin section of your forum there is a section called Store Configuration which allows you to adjust store settings.

Yeah. I'm making progress.

Now where do i find mods to install that will allow me to add video previews and all of that stuff?

by the way.. i do not have a store link on my menu bar, and i cannot find it anywhere in the admin section...

By Default Only Admin's are allow to see the store.

To give all member's,guests access to store you need to set the permissions.

This can be found under forum admin's section.  Once inside the admin tab of your forum. Find the Permissions link on the left hand side.

After you find that link click it and you will see a listing of membergroups.
For each group click on the modify group and apply the permissions that group needs under SMF Store.

You want to give them at least the View Store permission so they can view products.

I'm sorry... i can find no reference to the store anywhere except in "packages" and at the first link you gave me....

there is only one member, and that's my username.

when i log in, i can access the admin section... but i can't find the store anywhere in there...

okay..

so i looked at your screen cap.

i have NO reference to the store in my menu bar, not under configuration or anywhere else.

your admin panel and mine do not look the same.

what should i do?

Is there an empty space where it should be? If so check the language under Server Settings it should be set to Englislh and not english utf8.
