Title: Store Demo and Questions
Post by: Ghostwalker on July 23, 2008, 09:34:22 pm
Is there a current store Demo available? I am very interested.

The "SMF Store Demo" thread (from Sept. 07)  looks like a "regular" forum with no shopping cart and no "items for sale". Did I look in the right area?

Also can you upload images of the items for sale?
Do we need to download SMF and then SMF Store as a mod? or just SMF Store?
Any preferred hosts?
After we pay the "License and Dowmload Fee" do we pay that per year or one time?

Yes images can be uploaded. You can set the main image for an item. And each item can have as many images as needed.

Requires an SMF 1.1.x forum. Integrates well uses the permission system for SMF and allows you to move a customer to a special membergroup if they make a purchase.

Any preferred hosts?
No preferred hosts but requires fsockopen and gd for images.

One time fee comes with a year for updates. After that year you have to pay a renewal fee to continue to get updates.

Me again sorry! I was looking through the forum and found this:

hi i was just wondering with the domain registering what what do i put in.

http://yourlifetimeofmemories.com/forum
this site is where the gallery is

or

http://yourlifetimeofmemories.com
which is our store my main site

kind regards
chrisb

The reason for the quote is not to ask the same question but to focus on the links.

Will each shopper have to go through the "Forum/ main Domain" to go to the Store?
Will the store (template) be the same set up as the one posted above?

The store above is exactly what I want, and just wanted to ensure that is what I will have to work with. Sorry for the numerous questions  :-[ I do appreciate your time

It is up to you can either link to the forum or link directory to the store on your site using http://www.yourforum.com/index.php?action=store

The store template is the same one that you see on the demo style varies depending on your theme since it picks up that style information for the theme itself.

So what are we registering our forum? How does the above link help us to go directly to the store?

Yes register the forum url. That is a direct link to the store instead of going to forum then the store.

I am sorry to come back :( But when I click on that link it gives me 100 options. What am I doing, and what choice am I picking?

Do you have an SMF forum installed from http://www.simplemachines.org ? If so you would install the store modification from this site using SMF's package manager.

After you have the the forum installed if you are using the default theme there will be a Store tab in the navigation bar just lie in the demo forum. From there you can setup categories for your store. And inside SMF in the admin area there is settings and options to configure your Store.

Hi!  :)
If this question has been answered elsewhere I apologise  :-\ I have read and read and read until my eyes are out on stalks! But I still don't have a button (tab) for the store and neither is it showing in the left navigation panel. I can put the link into the browser manually and it's there - it also links back to the forum but I don't know how or where to make it link from the forum to the store.

Version Information:
Forum version: SMF 1.1.6
Current SMF version: SMF 1.1.6

    Mod Name     Version
1.    SMF 1.0.14 / 1.1.6 Update    1.0
2.    SMF Store    1.2.5.1
3.    SMF Gallery Pro    1.4.0.3
4.    Contact Page    1.1
5.    SMF Links    1.6.7
6.    Logo redirect    0.1
7.    Advanced Reputation System    1.5.2
8.    delete inactive users    1.0.3
9.    Member Notepad

Any help would be gratefully received  ;D

Are you using the default theme? If not for custom themes requires an edit to the index.template.php for that theme.

Otherwise I would check your language settings under Admin -> Server settings and make sure the language is set to just english and not english utf8

Hi there! thanks for getting back to me - I deleted and reinstalled - nothing to do with your reply time  ;D

Whilst I have you, though.Could you tell me which line (s) of which files (s) I need to alter to change the colours of the deep blue header blocks and the grey bg and the white fonts (page buttons) ??

And will the changes follow through to the gallery and the store??

Thanks in anticipation.

Currently the only way to change it is to alter the style.css of your theme but that also alters your forum as well.

Do the colors not match the forum colors? Or are you just looking to make it different than the forum.

the colours match - I wanted,if it's possible, to change the colours throughout to a soft pink. So - the forum, store and gallery would all be pink. That is the block labels would be pink. And at the moment the tab colour is white and with them being so tiny they are almost invisible.

I have also discovered that my images are not showing in the gallery - and presume that they won't in the store if they don't there. Any ideas?

Thanks again
Faye

SMFHacks I am sorry my post was not easily read.

I am trying to have the weblink go "Directly" to the store and not the forum. You had said to click the link  http://www.yourforum.com/index.php?action=store  and that would do it. But when I click the link it brings up several options and I am not clear as to which I am choosing.

Which option am I choosing? and what link am I presenting?

Here is how you would make a link.
Lets say your forum is http://www.mysite.com/forum/

Then you add to that link index.php?action=store

Which forms a url such as http://www.mysite.com/forum/index.php?action=store

If you visit your store you can also just grab the url in the address bar and use that as a link.

Right. I thought you had mentioned a way to get it to go "straight" to the store. I must have misunderstood :(
