Title: Hit counter reset? (Impressions)
Post by: Black Viper on January 30, 2010, 01:06:42 pm
Any way to reset the hit counter without deleting the ad and redoing it?
In "Manage settings", if I uncheck "Log every click", then save settings, then recheck and save again, do all ads start from zero again? (Which I would imagine is a bad thing due to purchased ad tracking or whatever).
I wish to test a theory I have with "javascript enabled" google ads and a normal banner ad image that I make up and enable click tracking... but I need both of them to start from zero several times.
If no hit counter reset is available, no big deal about deleting the ad, I guess.

BV EDIT: actually, I am looking to reset the impressions, not the clicks... (I have not made a banner to check out the click feature yet...)

As a side note, with 1.02 that I just installed, I have nothing but click tracking on and impressions are increasing... so... does that check box increase impressions? If I uncheck it, does it stop impressions from increasing? Is click tracking purly for text and banner ads? (because I see nothing for html/php code... I understand why, though).

What is the option of "Log every ad location view"? Does that combine all ads into one total per location? Is the impression column per ad not needed? I cannot see any difference in impressions with it checked or unchecked and nothing new in the "location" ad review or in the manage ad section...
I must be missing something easy. :P
Many of these questions I could probably answer myself if I felt like breaking something, but it is close to bed time and I need the server up for the next 8 hours. :P

No option yet to reset total clicks, total views for ads but that would be a good feature request.

To clarify some settings
Log every view - This setting when checked will log the datetime, ip address, and memberid of every view that occurs. Disabling this option does NOT stop view counts on ad view from increasing.

Log every click - Works the same way as Log every view This setting when checked will log the datetime, ip address, and memberid of every click that occurs. Disabling this option does NOT stop click counts on ad view from increasing.'

I could add a setting not to record any views at all that would remove the tracking pixel that is shown but this would not work well with ads that purchased that are based on impressions.

The Log every ad location view allows you to track stats on how many views are occurring on an ad location. So if you have enabled you can see how many hits you would have if you had a wap location enabled, or a print topic location enabled.  Adds a [stats] link on the manage locations page. Which breaks down the ad locations views by day. This feature would give you a better idea of how busy your ad locations are just requires you to collect some data to have a rough idea.

Great, thanks!

I would like to have impression tracking (the one pixel image) on a per ad basis (or on the short term, so I can disable it all together) as a requested feature.
I do not need impression tracking, for example, on my Google ads, but as you state, I would like it for my advertisers.
I appreciate your support.

I commented the pixel code, so it is no emergency or anything.
