I think i may buy this software but i have a question first...
Can the paid and free listings share the same category, being the paid items on the top with more preference? If i have to split the category into free listings and paid listings then the traffic for that category will split in half too.
Please somebody answer this one for me.

You can not mix up listings in a category of free and paid.
Each category can be set as either a paid listing category or a free category.
The closest you could get to that is a feature listing option for free listings which just makes it stand out a little more but does not change the order.
