Could this mod be used as the basis for Admins leaving notes on a member's profile - without the member seeing the notes?

Would you mind clarifying your comment on permissions, please? I'm a total newcomer to SMF. *g*

I know a version I have does have view permissions not sure if I ever released that as a mod. Permissions are found in your admin section of your forum. Look for Profile comments after modifying a group.

I get the following error when I attempted to install ...

Incorrect table name ''
File: /home/content/i/s/i/isigillum/html/smf/Packages/temp/ProfileCommentsinstall.php
Line: 17

... so the installation ended, and now I get errors on the Profile Page ...

Database Error
Table 'mydbname.smf_profile_comments' doesn't exist
File: /myserverpath/html/smf/Sources/Load.php(1734) : eval()'d code
Line: 363

However, because the installation ended (SMF thinks it did not install even though it did change some of the code before it ended the installation), I cannot Uninstall it to correct the issue.  Is there a fix here?

I love this mod and I have been trying to mess around with it. Here is what I want to do. Any help would be gratefully received:

1. Create some kind of notification system so that users can tell when a new comment has been left
2. Add user avatars and group stars to the comments they leave.

Hey I can't find the profile comment permissions spot under the admin panel.

Though it did say that the Modification-english.php file failed the test installation. Could that be the reason?

Yes that would the reason since that is the text that is used for permissions
Upload the mod to http://www.smfhacks.com/smf-package-parser.html
And just do the modifications.english.php edit manually

Having a bit of a problem with this mod, everything seems fine, however when the user tries to leave a comment, the comment entry page appears blank.

It works fine under the default theme, however my custom theme pulls a smarty template for the header and navigation.

Anyone came across this, and any ideas how to fix?

Thanks

If i want to install it, i will get the following fault in my screen:

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required

'/www/web2437/html/Packages/temp/./ProfileCommentsinstall.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear')

in /www/web2437/html/Sources/Packages.php on line 552

Hello Mr SMFHacks,

We're using this Profie Comments mod for a long time and we would like to use it again in the future.

We removed it because of the way the user is notified when a comment is placed;
First, the user (member) gets an emailnotification that he has a new PM.
Second, this PM is saying: 'you have a comment in your userprofile', after that he has to look at his profile to see what the message is saying. This is a bit confusing for a lot of the members.

There must be an easier way to notify the member. When a comment is placed on a members profile it would be prettier to receive an e-mail instead of a PM and that this  e-mail includes the profile link.

In the gallery the e-mail notification already exist, including the direct link. This is working perfect. It would be really nice to have this option too in the Profile Comments.

Is this possible and..... is this mod allready updated for SMF2.0 RC2?

The advantage of this mod is that the profiles are more approachable for other users which would be a great option for the involvement of our users.

Thanks in advance,

Vincent Volmer

Hello SMFHacks,

Maybe you can make it an option? Notify by PM or by direct E-mail?

Thank you for your great work!

Vincent

Is this possible SMFHacks? And do you have time and energy to do this?

Thanks, Vincent
