Title: Gallery 6.0 Questions
Post by: Jonas1975 on August 30, 2014, 07:12:14 am
I know I'm due to renew my Gallery Pro license (just expired a couple of days ago) and I will do it in the next weeks but I have some questions:

1. Is there a way to disable "Add Video" Option (to not appear at all)?
2. Having a Youtube Embed video on the gallery, it means it is uploaded to the server? I'm concerned with space and bandwidth requirements.
3. Is there a way to force that Videos will be posted to a specific Gallery category?
4. The counts on the new stats don't seem to be right. On page http://themobilephotographyblog.com/gallery/?sa=myimages;u=2 the total of comments is far superior of the total comments on the gallery: http://themobilephotographyblog.com/gallery/?sa=stats

Thanks.

1. I believe if you the permissions are unchecked for Add Video it is a global smf permission or you can set it on category level.
2. No it is not uploaded to the server it is just linked from youtube.
3. You can using category level permissions to block videos form being posted in other categories.
4. I am not seeing the stats on  http://themobilephotographyblog.com/gallery/?sa=myimages;u=2 are you using Gallery Pro 6.0

1. Found and done! Thanks
2. Great!
3. I will. Most likely will have a Video Category.
3. I'm using Gallery Pro 6.0 and I can see the stats of any user while logged (as admin or regular member). Guest seem to not be able to see the stats. Am I missing some permission? Can't find anything related with it.

I just updated the gallery. You can now check this issue:

4. The counts on the new stats don't seem to be right. On page http://themobilephotographyblog.com/gallery/?sa=myimages;u=2 the total of comments is far superior of the total comments on the gallery: http://themobilephotographyblog.com/gallery/?sa=stats

I like the video add-on feature but I think it's missing some features:

1. A check box on the settings to disallow the upload so the options "Browse" wouldn't appear to members if we only pretend to allow embed videos;
2. The permissions should be applied previously when choosing the category. For example if only 1-2 categories allow the upload of videos, the remaining should not appear or should not let the member go forward (now it allows the member to fulfill the fields on categories where videos are not allowed). Same applies to pictures.
3. Allow the embed videos from other sources, specially Vimeo.

That was blazing fast! Will update and test.

2. What area is this what select screen? On what page
I haven't test it but seems like the member only gets a notification that he can't upload to a specific category after submitting it. The ideal was to when clicking on "Add Video", it would only appear categories where he actually could upload it. Same for "Add Picture".

3. Other sources are supported including: Vimeo. Full list found at http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2681
That is an impressive list! Thanks.

The category drop should only show categories they have permission to add picture or add video depending on what they are doing.
