Title: Why PayPal only
Post by: ajac63 on May 28, 2019, 08:54:36 pm
Why do ad posters have to have a PayPal account considering that the classifieds system also supports other payment facilitators?

That is the only we built out for since I am familiar with paypal. For others that would be a custom job.   I do not currently offer any other payment system other than paypal in the mods.

OK, so sellers must have a PayPal account, fair enough.

What about buyers?  Are they also limited to just PayPal?  It's just that looking through the php of one of the files I noted the following payment facilitators as well as PayPal:
Google, Checkout, 2Checkout, Nochex, Authorize.Net, ccBill & WorldPay, so I assumed that buyer could or can use these as well.

No only supports Paypal with a link to pay via paypal in the classifieds for the item. Otherwise the buyer/seller would talk over pms to arrange payment.
No other payment processor is supported/built other than paypal in any of the mods.

Then why does the file that I looked at (I forget the name of the file...) clearly show the other payment facilitators that I mentioned if both the buyer and seller must use PayPal?  I'll now have to reword much of the ToU for both seller and buyer.

At one point I looked into doing it but not enough users and no requested them and it is very complicated to maintain. So keeping it simple to just paypal like SMF does with paid subscriptions.

OK, fair enough, I like things simple as well...  So, just to make sure, both the seller and buyer must use/have a PayPal account by default, but if the buyer wishes to pay via another facilitator like nochex, ccbill, etc, and the seller agrees to that, then it has to be via the personal messaging system (pms).

Paypal is not required for either buyer or seller. The seller has the option of entering a paypal address for people to send money to them.
Otherwise yeah they would just contact via pm's
