Title: hashTags only used by admins, but visible to everyone?
Post by: Dwev on December 03, 2019, 07:47:35 am
Just bought HashTags (http://"https://www.smfhacks.com/hashtags.php"), but can't find an after-sales board for it.

I would like to use this on our forum, and that the hashTags can be made only by admins, but visible and clickable for everyone.

This doen't seem possible. If I take away the "Be able to create hashtags" permission, the HashTags that are already visible aren't clickable anymore for general members.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I will do some testing and see what I can figure out. This was made by a third party for our site so will see what I can find out.

Want to know about the flow
It sounds like you took away from the permission from all members except admins to create a hash tag.

Is the admin editing  normal posts and adding a hash tag?

We have a forum and news, and want to use the HashTags only in the news-items. News-items are written only by people with admin-rights.

In the permissions there are three options:
• Be able to see the hashtag list page
• Be able to create hashtags
• Be able to delete hashtags

Admins have all rights, 'normal' users wouldn't ideally be able to create hashtags.
But when I take that permission away, the HashTags aren't links anymore for 'normal' users.
So for it to work I have to leave the option for 'normal' users to create HashTags on, not what we had in mind.

P.S.
While I have your attention: our site is about everything related to Apple.
I already had a HashTag #MacBookPro, and today I wanted to add #MacBook and #MacBookAir.
But if I do this the "Pro" and "Air" part aren't clickable anymore, and everything defaults back to #MacBook.

Is there a way around this?

Will check this out.

I did notice your second issue last night when I was doing some tests.

Great news, hoping to try this soon!

About that: how can I download this new (and licensed) version of HashTags again?
(the link in the original mail has expired).

Finally got around testing version 1.0.3

It's now possible to make HashTags that share part of their words (like for instance #MacBook and #MacBookAir), and if I take away the permission for general users to make HashTags, they're still clickable.

But one bug seems to remain: even though I removed the permission for normal users to create HashTags, they still become clickable (though they don't show up on the HashTags pages, and they don't appear in the database either).

Would it be possible to make a HashTags not-clickable, if it's made without the proper permissions?

As of right now I would say no. We are not storing if a hashtag was made with permission or not. Would have to see how hard it is to do.
