Title: website locked up after trying to uninstall 9.0 beta
Post by: alantani on February 01, 2021, 10:02:08 am
ok, i really screwed the pooch this time.  this is what happens when a retired pharmacist with no knowledge of website construction tries to manage things.  i think that my trying to delete the version 9.0 beta locked up website.

my website, alantani.com, still has smf "1 point something" version instead of the "2 point something" because i was afraid to upgrade it and it was running ok.  my gallery pro was version "6 point something" instead of version 8.0.8 for the same reason.  i decided to try to upgrade gallery pro and climbed through the upgrades, but the numbers, until i got to 8.0.5, then started looking for the current 8.0.8 and couldn't find the file, but i did find the beta 9 version and installed that.  a member of the website was then telling me that he could load pictures in bulk mode but that he could not load pictures one at a time.

at that point, i decided to try to uninstall the version 9 beta and it locked up on me.  when i clear all the cookies, i get the website and i can see that all the boards and photos are there.  when i log in, i only get the blue background of the website and none of the boards are visible.

any guidance would be appreciated.

That's odd looks like the page isn't loading. I did try to signup again on the site as smfhacks2 but needs to be approved

Are you able to get to admin area. ttps://alantani.com/index.php?action=admin

Site does seem a little slow

Looks like it didn't uninstall completely. Have reinstalled 9.0beta2 and fixed errors that I noticed.

I also went in and updated bunch of SMF code. SMF 1.1.x doesn't official support PHP 5.6+ but made some changes to make it work better. I strongly suggest look to upgrade to SMF 2.0

smf 2.0 is in the works.  i finally have an "IT" guy that was able to back up the entire website.  we are looking to leave godaddy and want to find a new hosting service.  i see that you might offer hosting services as well.

this is the second time that you've saved my ass.  thank you so very much!!!!!!!
