In ConstantContacts it lets you send out a letter 1 week after the contact is added to the list. Can that be done with NewsletterPro too somehow? Can NewsletterPro be used to send out the initial welcome email instead of the smf system?

Support / Embed swf as image in product description
« on: August 18, 2009, 07:49:29 pm »
My store link: http://www.flcairsoft.com/forum/index.php?action=store
Store version: 1.2 Old I know but it has been over a year so I can't upgrade :(
SMF version 1.1.10

I need to know how I can embed swf files in the product descriptions so I can show a preview of the products that are being sold. When I click 'add picture' and add the files they don't show up at all. When I try adding movie files that way (mpg or avi) it says only certain filetypes are allowed (gif, jpeg, png tiff etc.)

Please help?

Thanks :)

And what's the mods name?
I don't remember but if you search the smf mod site for 'html' you'll find it easily

Wow, I just looked at the package parser output for doing this manually and there is a lot of changes!  :o
I'll try to help you if you didn't get it installed yet. Did you set your permissions using ftp? chmod recursively your entire forum 755 using ftp and then try installing the mod

ty, that worked  :)

Enable html and install the mod that lets you post more html. There's also one that let's you manage perms for html posting, so you'd give those to your feedposter.

I leave them in that board

I'm sorry for posting so many times in this thread but I've found a solution that is working well for me. I have all my feeds going into one particular board and I've designated that board as the recycle board for deleted topics (you do this in admin>forum>boards>settings)
This keeps the feed posts from showing in 'show unread' post list and in the 'recent posts' list

Never mind, it appears this is working the way it was intended. I thought it would mark the feeds as read for all users, but it appears that it only marks them as read for the poster. Hence when the cronjob runs for the feedbot the posts are marked as read for the feedbot and when I run the php script manually as admin they are marked as read for me.
I was hoping to keep these out of the 'show all unread posts since last visit' list so the users would be able to easily find the posts from other users and not be inundated by feed posts they might not be interested in.
Sorry, it is a great mod. Hopefully I can find a way to make the 'show unread posts since last visit' link show all posts except those in the feeds board? Or perhaps mark the feed posts as read for all users?  :)

Fake cronjobs produce the same result, posts that are not marked as read.

Is there a perm the feed poster needs in order to be able to do this?

For the life of me I cannot get the feed posts to show as read upon posting. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the mod. I've checked the cron configuration, making sure the interpreter is php4. I've checked the database and indeed the feeds are setup to be marked as read... they just aren't.

When I do it manually though, by putting the http://www.flcairsoft.com/forum/cronrss.php in the address bar and hitting return it works perfectly, all the feedposts marked as read just like I want. When I let the cronjob do it they all show up as new. It's driving me nuts.

I'm trying fake cronjobs now to see if that works. I wish I could use cron because I think the fake cronjobs will slow down the forums slightly.  :-\

It is installed and working fine, however in the package list it is listed as not installed. The phrase 'apply mod' is listed next to it. How do I get smf to recognize it is installed ??? Just a minor annoyance

Latest Mods / Help with RSS Feed Poster
« on: May 10, 2008, 05:06:20 pm »
I've got an odd problem with this mod; I checked the 'mark as read' box in all the feeds, and they still come in marked as new and show up in 'show unread topics'. What's weird is that when I update the feeds manually via the cronrss.php file they are marked as read the way they should be. The forum is flcairsoft.com
Any ideas on how to fix this would be awesome  :) ty, I love this mod

Is there a way to 'hardwire' all rss feedposts to be marked as read? Or all posts from a particular user (the feedposter) marked as read? Because that would also solve my problem assuming this is too dificult to fix. I don't understand what the difference is between manually running the php scrip or the cron daemon doing it...

In the settings you allow html in posts. That should do it but optionally you could  download the mod that allows more html tags in the forums. Then download the mod that lets you choose permissions for who can use html in posts and give the perms to your feed poster.
