General SMF Forum / Re: Forum Question

Can someone assist a poor ignoramus?

I tried to install the SMF forum using godaddy.com and got this message:

Warning! You do not appear to have a version of PHP installed on your webserver that meets SMF's minimum installations requirements.
If you are not the host, you will need to ask your host to upgrade, or use a different host - otherwise, please upgrade PHP to a recent version.

If you know for a fact that your PHP version is high enough you may continue, although this is strongly discouraged.

Click here to try installing anyway, but note that this is strongly discouraged.

And if I clicked the Click here I got:

We are sorry but the installer was unable to download the installation package details from the Simple Machines website. You may download the packages manually by using the SMF Download page.

Click here to try this step again.

After setup, how long does it take daily to maintain a fairly good sized forum?

I recently bought a domain and wish to set up a forum on it. How long does it usually take to get a forum up and running using SMF?

Nevermind. It appears one would have to hack into the Admin to make such a change. I don't want to do all that.

Can a user of an SMF forum increase their post count by simply formatting in a code?
